This is an old video, it was taken in May/June 2023...when there was 4 on Exercise there & The 2 in this Video were arriving after a sortie which they took off from RAF Fairford earlier in the day,

Brilliant footage of the B1, always has been great aircraft, and great to see it doing its thing despite the age of it overtime. Thanks for sharing. 🙂

Perhaps the biggest hangar queen in the entire history of the US Air Force. It took the better part of 3 decades for the B-1 to mature into what it is today and it took many a weekend away from the men and women charged with it’s care.

Maybe they are old technology, but they "look the part" of a badass bomber!

Think the last aircraft to have a nose wheel that long was the Lockheed Constellation, another lovely aircraft.
@datathunderstorm10 ай бұрын
I thought Concorde had an equally long, if not longer nose wheel - but I could be wrong. Anybody know?
@aviation74710 ай бұрын
I believe you are correct in that, although Concorde flew a few years earlier than the B1
@briandugan497410 ай бұрын
Yes I forgot about Concorde, how the hell could I do that, I saw it just about every day. Senior moment.

ahahah love your sense of humour. Best not to say that around here. You were lucky to get your independence from us, would not have happened had the French not got in the way.

Fun B-1 fact: It's standard proceedure for B-1s to use full flaps for takeoff.
@socaljarhead767010 ай бұрын
Another fun fact, at low speeds it will turn inside of much smaller and faster aircraft.

What’s up with the first B-1 mismatched rear stabiliser air break?
@aviation74710 ай бұрын
Good question im honestly not entirely sure, it could be due to the pilot making an input on the stick during the roll out for some reason.
@trespire10 ай бұрын
Noticed that too. As mentioned, it could be pilot input, as the British Isles are often very windy.

No way in hell all 4 airframes participated in the entire training schedule. I’d bet my left nut at least one was down for maintenance of some kind and all 4 didn’t fly for probably 2 weeks once they got back to Texas.

Aircraft have become obsolete. They require too much maintenence,runways and are easily defeated with missiles or drones.
