Absolutely brilliant and astonishing overland journey in the Sierra San Pedro Mártir, and Mexico's Baja coastline. Your adventures along these exotic paths always produce compelling storytelling and certainly excellent life memories in the making. Your ambitions and wanderlust gallivanting around evokes my youthful year in the mid 90's which I hiked and exploring endless miles in canyons, mountains and looking for rare agave species in the Baja desert ecoregions. This doc blew me aways. I really love your expressive style of cinematography! "Nelson's Rainbow Trout" , WOW! Keep on keeping it real!

Definitely very little info, especially about Nelsons Trout, which this film is about. I’m sure you’ve seen our friend Joe Tomelleris documentary on here “Truchas Mexicanas”. It’s excellent!

Great story, interesting and informative. Been going to Baja as a child in 1958 and more seriously during college from the early 60's. Familiar with San Pedro Martir (first excursion in 1974) and did the length of the Peninsula, pre-highway in a 1964 VW van in 1972. You two have spent a great deal of money on a beautiful off-road camper. With more off-road experience, I suspect you'll find the roads you encountered between the Meling's Ranch and the stream will seem not as challenging as during your first trek. Hope to see more video from you. Thank you for sharing your experiences and your beautiful video. Buen viaje!

Wow you’ve been on some amazing adventures! We’re jealous! Wish we could have seen Baja in the 60s/70s. I’m sure you’re right; experience always breeds greater confidence and garners a greater skill set, but I’m not sure those roads will ever get easier with our rig. Size and weight were a seriously limiting factor. We weigh just shy of 10,000 pounds. Narrow, steep roads with loose dirt and deep ruts are just a bad combination for our particular set up. Almost any other rig that’s a little smaller and more agile would have been just fine. But again, I think we COULD have gone farther on those roads, even on our first attempt, it just came down to risk vs reward for us. But as I’m sure you know our relationship to risk changes a lot as we get more comfortable.

With the lighter 'pop-up' top camper, I would have guessed the rig weight is carried pretty low, making roll over potential less than you might imagine. Having the driver positioned high above the ground multiplies the pucker factor when going off camber. Roll over is a real concern and one you might want to experiment with while you're not underway. Having an inclinometer and using a jack may help to identify how far over is approaching too far. When your off road experience becomes even a fraction of your filming expertise, I think you'll find your custom Toyota will be a pretty much go anywhere vehicle (particularly once there's enough 'tree writing' on the exterior that the fear of using it as an off-road truck will seem less sacrilegious). During all our adventures in Baja, we often had to remind ourselves that virtually all the two track we drove on was initially made by vaqueros in old, two-wheel drive pickup trucks that were often loaded beyond capacity. With deep sand and mud, everyone eventually gets stuck. Plan for it, be prepared and the worse that will happen is there won't be someone who comes by to take time out of their lives to do whatever it takes to help get you out. Enjoyed your video and am looking forward to seeing more.@@TightLoops

Nice off road rig guys! ... The VW van was .... cute, but this pick up truck looks like a proper weapon. Cheers to you coming back, and hoping you can get to even more remote and wild places now 🥂

Very excited to see this. You guys are making some of the absolute best adventure travel film out there. No one can touch your production quality. I actually had a long conversation with Joe and Sam from MLO about you guys and the quality of your work. Hopefully you can make it to the MAOF next year.

can hardly wait. I have been to San Pedro martir and hiked down into the valle la grullas and caught "nelson" trout in the little pool there. i hiked over to the adjacent San Antonio and la granja arroyos and caught even bigger trout there. very hard to get to. I live in Tijuana and it's still a mission to get there from here.
@TightLoops Жыл бұрын
we failed to reach San Antonio on our journey, but you'll hear all about that in the film. Indeed very hard to get to!!!
