3-14-2021 Cheyenne, Wyoming Heavy snow damages businesses, cars buried, blizzard, huge snow drifts

Numerous businesses were damaged after heavy snow collapsed awnings. Cars buried so deep in snow only the antenna sticks out the snow. Snow drifts going more than 6' up the side of businesses in downtown Cheyenne. Homes with snow up to the handrails on the front porch. Numerous cars being yanked out in downtown. A front end loader digs out a heavy duty pickup buried up to the hood in snow. Tree down causing power outages.

A week ago I predicted this storm (to my wife and kid around the dinner table) Having grown up in the foothills of the front range, I noticed the low pressure moving toward the "strike zone" as moisture moved up from the Gulf. I told her, "in about a week the front range is going to get buried" And it did. I had a VERY good job offer in the desert southwest so no more snow for me. I still know how to predict a big Rockies snow storm from way off though!

Ran into snow in Cheyenne in 2019 travelling across America. The snow had just begun and immediately I found a motel to rest at. The car started slipping on the road and that is a no no for me. Thank goodness I had some money to stay at a motel for 2 days. There were plenty of problems that had followed me there. Also, when the storm was over, I went out to my car and I had a flat tire. I didn't know how it got there.

I experienced this same storm at Warren AFB in April of 1968, just before going to the tropics as in Vietnam! LOL Snow was up to our 3rd floor windows in the old barracks!

Snow hit all around us in utah. Totally blue sky for 3 days.... Weird

Sat up last night and watched the live streams. There were snow plow trucks getting stuck! Most roads were barely passable and if you weren't driving a F250 4x4, you were going to be stuck. Interstates were closed for the most part and the side streets were impassable to all except for snow machines (Hardy souls, ain't they) and maybe the monster wheel loader here and there.
