Actually looking for a non-painful way to level a trickster to transition into ephemeral edge splitting steel shenanigans once I have the divines. I just did a test run to A5 on WT brand and I believe this is it. The damage is surprisingly good even at level 12, and the playstyle is super comfy, much more so than the giga skill piano that we had on old cold DoT! Amazing guide, thank you!

I league started with Wintertide and using Cold Snap for support. Been easy. I switched into the 2nd phase at the end of white maps with 3,500 ES for reference. Running Red's easily and pushing into endgame now and still need a weapon, my final armor and exposure ( I need to check your POB or you can comment on getting exposure besides frost bomb). I swapped the mana flask for Bismuths which bleed immunity. This allows me to use both Sin Tek and Vixens (for 3 curses) and I stack Mana regen on the rings.

Another trick that I use when I don't have brand recall (playing ruthless) is to cast 2 wintertide brand, wait 1.5sec then cast the 3rd one. This will make sure you keep wintertide's end on bosses without brand recall. The rotation is basically cast 2 brand, cast your other spells, cast 1brand, cast other spells, cast 2 brand and so on

I would do this in a pseudo 5 link gloves with replica allelopathy (level 22 Wintertide). If you are rich go Empower, to get something like level 29 5-link Wintertide brand. Then I would go Magi wildwood ascendency to double defences from chest piece with no gems in chest to really pump up evasion and ES. Unsure if damage would go up or down, but it would be competitive, with juiced up defenses.

It's great to see interest on wintertide brand, i love the skill, even if it isn't in the greatest place. A thing that i noted that is wort looking into is that you have very low brand duration, your min max build has only 27 activation pero brand. That means that you are at max dps for less than 1/3 of the time. Linking swift affliction to wtt is a damage lose most of the time. If you cut it you already improve a lot, is still a bit low, i think you should squeeze a duration wheel in the build, is kind of critical so the dps is actually sustained.

Interesting, i think there’s always a tradeoff if we invest in more cast speed or duration, we lose some of the damage ceiling. Part of the thinking is that maybe if I just giga boost the max stage damage despite my activation frequency the overall damage is so high that the actual dps at a lower stage is just higher… hard to say but all of the footage is 27 activation Wintertide so you can judge for yourself

Hey Owen, I like the build so far. However, I am trying to get the minmaxed chestpiece like yours - it seems kind of tough. I have a Sadist Garb with fractured spell suppression, and I think I have to throw some dense fossils at it. The thing is, the evasion and ES numbers do not ever get that close (at least in the Craft of Exile emulator). Your armor has 2299 evasion and 501 ES. Any suggestions? Thanks.

The evasion/es numbers are nice but honestly the only way to craft it is to close your eyes and slam dense fossils as you said… the defenses are nice to have but dont give you more damage. There are probably other things you can invest in but indeed a high evasion/es sadist garb is your largest source of Energy Shield. I think with necropolis crafting you might also be able to buy a decent one.

Usually I have the gear to transition after getting the first 2 watchstones, I always leaguestart with Mind over Matter + Eldritch Battery, and it should be able to get you 2 watchstones while you work on the low life transition. Obviously if you are able to transition earlier then by all means go ahead and do so.

Trying to understand the skill, gem wording is a bit confusing I first thought wintertide's end was only a small boost to clearing lol. But what you said aligns with the gem wording and pob's calculation, since the wintertide's end debuff is missing in pob

Correct, wintertide’s end is an additional debuff on top of 3 brands doing damage. It is applied when a brand expires or is detached, multiple debuffs can be applied but only the strongest will do damage, up to 500% at max stages for 1 second (before duration modifiers)

@@rasmus44 no room for a third curse unless you play occultist. If you did have a 3rd curse it would be punishment not temp chains. Temp chains is usually for poison builds where dots stack. Wintertide doesnt stack so extending duration is minimally effective. Also with 3 ticking brands maintaining debuff uptime is not difficult

Thanks Justin, I just read through the patch notes, not too many changes to things that might affect the build, I expect the build to still be able to do all of the hardest content in the game, and may potentially be good at T17 map bosses. The Recommended Mid-Transition Build PoB in the description has no league specific items (like affliction charms), and should be a good baseline for endgame content going forward. The build should be more or less the same, but you can let me know if you run into any problems. :)

I am not quite sure if your brand recall math is correct at all. With your gear your brands activate 7.5 times per second, we can just round it down to getting to 20 stages within 3 seconds. A brand is attached for 3.6 seconds at most and the debuff lasts another 1.8 seconds after its getting removed you just need to have brands be applied at different intervals to basically have 100% uptime on the debuff either way. Given that only one of those secondary debuffs do damage at a time. At that point couple seconds into the fight you will always have one debuff at max stacks ticking and the brands themselve ramping up which would only delay by recalling them. Did i make a massive mistake while thinking about this?

You're not wrong, but the assumption is that you're perfectly casting brands such that their expiration is spaced out so that the debuff is always active... more realistically in a fight you kinda just cast 5 brands below a boss to start, and then between having to use other skills and dodging mechanics, getting that perfect brand interval just by casting doesn't happen. So in the end we just circumvent the problem all together by just making sure there are always brands attached and just mash brand recall so brain power isn't required

to use a graph is a good idea, but define 0 on your Y-Axis and stack your damage on top of it. Your base wintertide damage is flowing somewhere and you put the debuff below it, but it should stack up on top of the base damage so it adds up. it's still understandable but technically just wrong. next point is: your Y-Axis should show damage instead of damage per second if you want to plot it over time. sorry for nit picking@@Owenlol100

The build can’t survive one shot slams or full die beams. The rest of the hits should be fine. Its pretty hard to die through frost shield and molten shell. Worst case we have 6 portals lol

Vaal Discipline is the panic button that basically makes you immortal while it is active. Otherwise with 20k+ armour and 35k+ evasion, enemies have a hard time hitting you, and even when they do you have Ghost Shroud ES recovery. Bleeds and burns are removed by flask usage, poisons should be manageable with some chaos res. Also considering that you recover 16% of your ES per enemy your kill, you do not feel the effects of degens while mapping

I think a video on when to re-cast wintertide brand and how to tell when you can re-cast would be good. Of any thing, I find this most difficult. I can never tell when all my brands are down or when I should start recasting them. All I see is sometimes up to 5 dots some are solid and some are empty circles, I can spam Wintertide brand, but the dots never seem to all be filled. I see them on the ground when I recall them, but the circles are not solid, so what's up with that?

Filled means its attached, empty means its idle. Sounds like you might need the 40% attachment range mastery.

Is there an optimal way to craft your end-game belt? I've been trying to buy a similar one but it seems there aren't any on the market. Is it just essence spam or there is a way to guarantee armor and Es?

So I bought a fractured 30%+ flask effect duration crystal belt. Then you use Essence of Delirium until you have a 3rd good suffix (tier 1-2 res or high strength). Then with suffixes filled you use a Wild Bristle Matron to beast craft Suffixes Cannot be Changed. Then you use a veiled chaos orb on it. If you block by crafting reduced flask charges gained/increased flask effect, you are guaranteed to unveil either ES/Armour or ES/Evasion. This part is 50/50 as to which hybrid mod you unveil.

Build is fine. PoB shows damage per brand. For an overall estimate, multiply 3.4 million by around 3.5 ish (3 brands attached at a time + debuff damage). Since its hard to judge the total damage, best to just watch the bossing footage in the video for an idea of the damage

Step 1 for all is to buy the fractured base. For boots just use dense fossils until something lands. Ring use essence of delirium until suffixes are filled and acceptable, use a wild bristle to craft suffixes cannot be changed then reforge defense… took me like 8 tries lol. For gloves spam essence of loathing until suffixes are acceptable and filled, wild bristle matron suffixes cannot be changes reforge defense only once and craft +1. Chest… dont have to neccesarily start with fractured suppression, you can just spam dense fossils on a 6 link sadist garb until you hit decent es and ev

Could you do flask charge charms instead of running the traitor so you could use a different timeless jewel and get your flasks back? To better answer the last question about how much damage you do: I've heard some streamers talk about running a few scoured Hydra or phoenix maps because the boss has a known amount of health so you can just check your average time to kill and calculate your damage from that

I think you can make it work, those charms were pretty expensive when I looked early on so I settled with the ones I have right now. With traitor its 8charges/5 seconds, with 3 charms its 3/3 seconds so I think you need some extra flask mods somewhere

Just use any brutal restraint to start, or filter the nodes for only one 8% aura node (see finding timeless jewel). Other nodes you can search for that are still good are % cold damage, % elemental damage

Hey ! Subscribed. I fell in love with this build and it's doing wonders for me, especially ubers somehow seem much easier compared to poison SRS of all things. I did have one question, though. I couldn't help but notice that this build is on the cheap side, I got the non-awakened gem version together for less than 30 divines, so I was curious if this build has any chase items that can make it even more powerful ? I assume adding Mageblood to the mix would be the best addition ? Would allow to add extra flasks and free some points in the talent tree, I guess.

Hello and thanks! Honestly not sure if mageblood would let us do more damage and is probably a waste. If you have a mageblood probably better to play a different build, WTB is kinda limited in the options for scaling and a hit based build shines better with a MB. I prefer to recommend a setup that is easier for people to follow. I have seen comments that say having a 12 passive perfectly rolled spell damage cluster with 35% increased effect of nodes with cast speed will do more damage (probably does)… but I don’t feel comfortable using it in a build guide. I guess awakened gems especially elemental focus are big because the lvl 5 version adds a gem level. Other than that maybe a GG watchers eye. You can also try to remove passive wheels that don’t explicitly give damage like the attribute or flask one, but you may have to make up for their effects elsewhere for more damage.

@@Owenlol100 Alright. I guess the best currency sink is also crafting the best gear and gambling for high implicits. Thanks for the build suggestion/guide and hopefully some variant of it is also viable in the next league.

GGG should buff cold dot by a bunch but can only stack two. Example winterbrand and cold snap (vaal would not count making him stack as well).

No big changes in the patch notes so we are fine. I have league started this build every league for 12 leagues, and it is always able to do all content. You can find leveling and progression notes in the leaguestart PoB

@@Psycho-Pano you have better defenses but you do less damage with CI. Its probably fine but I never tried it because the PoB dps was a little low for uber bosses

Hi man pretty good job with the build! I have a question not about wintertide brand but Penance Brand of Conduction, this skill says that deal damage at the end (removed) i clear pretty well packs of mob but tanky rares seems like i do not deal damage, pob says that my average hit is like 20 M but obviously i don't do that amount to a single target lol, do you anything about it? 😅

Looks like the base duration for the brand attachment is 0.5 seconds, and it will activate (gain a stage) every 0.15 seconds. I don't know what configuration you have in POB but seems like you need some duration + cast speed to realistically get to that 20M average hit, you probably have it set beyond how many stages you can get to. Then again, most people will tell you to just use penance brand of dissipation instead, but kudos to you for trying an off meta skill!

@@Owenlol100 Yeah i take the Penance Brand of Dissipation as template, but the thing is that this skill doesn't have stages so I think the pob just calculates my DPS as it was a spammable skill, i managed to kill huge rare like a SRS does using spell echo and Val Haste so my brand detaches so quickly that tons of brands attaches as they dissappear. But yeah I don't know how the skill works or if it would be better to invest on brand duration

You have a very bad definition of deterministic crafting. You have at least 2 times you self admittedly said you might have to start over from scratch, and one of them is a 25% chance to lose the 13-16 Divines you already put into the item. That's not even close to "All deterministic crafting". I got half way through crafting before I noticing it needed a Sacred Crystallised Lifeforce and 15,000 yellow (together worth 12-13 divine)... Not even close to what most people call deterministic. The wand is about the last thing you should do, and I would suggest if anyone reads. Do the wand half way, craft the "Can have 3 crafted modifiers" then just craft 3 modifiers on it and use the wand until you have enough currency that you won't care if you lose 10 or 20 divine on some bad rolls. Once you got the rest then you can finish the wand.
