3:35 My experience studying this shape with AI about a year ago is that kicking with kosumi is bad shape. It's better to play the second line legsweep (keima down) to take the corner; however, the usual best follow-up is to press the two-space low extension once and then extend underneath the star-point on the side; this move can also be a pincer on a stone in the upper right. It can later be developed into a wall by continuing from the pressing move. Can also omit the initial AI pressing move and play a more conservative extension like the 8-3 low, which was often used by the Yasui school in the Edo period. Then the follow-up against White's two-space low can be a shoulderhit instead, to overconcentrate it. When you have the keima instead of kosumi, kicking is good, provided you follow it up by fixing the weakness, usually with a one-space jump but it can be other more wide extensions too such as hoshi-waki.

This lesson is part of a BEGINNER course on joseki that recommends simple things to those who don't know joseki at all. AI precision was not a priority when making this =) But thanks for the detailed analysis!

Why does this channel have so few subscribers?
@GoMagic2 ай бұрын
Go is a bit of a niche interest =( So naturally, channels dedicated to it may attract a smaller but very passionate audience. But every new subscriber is a bonus and helps us grow this amazing community! 😊

If komoku translates as small point, does that mean 'ko' simply translates to mean small?
@GoMagic5 ай бұрын
That's right, komoku (小目) is a Japanese term. And 小 (ko) as a prefix literally means "small".
