3-6-2018 Marshfield, Ma huge waves, high tide causing flooding on broken seawall drone

In Marshfield, Ma a large break in the levee seawall is leading to huge waves crashing over and causing flooding into the town. The town is rushing to try and repair the wall but continued battering of waves is hampering rushed emergency repairs as the next storm rapidly approaches.

Sea captains build or buy property quite a distance back from the beach. They know better than most.

Letit Bemee to be fair the houses are 115 years old, erosion has probably brought them closer then they originally were

This is what happens when people INSIST on building on floodplains. It seriously pisses me off that the logic is simple but the complexities of modern living force us to be in places we'd rather not. On the one hand I have no sympathy, on the other I see strength and courage but not enough common sense or drive to change things for the better. The lack of vision or for the gain of personal gratification, these people place themselves at the risk of injury or significantly worse all because they refuse to accept they have to adapt to this rapidly changing world's more destructive forces, such as the ever present changing weather.

Kris A The problem is that they didn't build the houses close enough to the ocean. Can't have a flood if the house is in the water. ;)
