3:73 Sure-grip + Green bearings = A lesson learned. Our 1970 Super Bee gets a rear axle overhaul...

Episode 25!!
We finally get back to the Mopars!!!
The Super Bee gets a new Yukon center section for the 8.75 axle. It has a 30 spline sure-grip with 3:73 gears. While it was apart, we installed the green bearing kit on the axles and sent the driveshaft out for new u joints and a balancing. The ending is a little intense, but don't worry the car is fine. In the next episode we work on this car we will show you what went wrong....

Got a 600HP early hemi in a hotrod 8 and 3/4 3.73 suregrip with green bearings and have over 8000 miles on it....I used the inner seal to keep the gear oil from leaking thru the bearing which will happen....Those shielded bearings are not seals....Have had no issues,,,,My bearings came from Mopar Performance and are different than some of the bearing kits on the market today....

Just did pretty much the same thing to the Roadrunner. Before I had a nightmare trying to locate a U-joint that was 2 different sizes. Spent an hour at Napa trying to figure it out. But once I swapped out the center section to a new 489 case with a True Trac I upgraded the yoke to be the same size. So no more combo u-joint.

Fun video until the end hope it’s an easy fix. Is the power lock the worm gear style sure grip? Been thinking about that for my 63 Belvedere.

did you use the inner axle seal? I've heard both, use a seal and do not use a seal.

We did not, the o-ring seals everything up😎

dont use green bearings the adjustable factory bearings are better
