3 90s SCHMERSAL Lifts with Epic Sound in NRW, Germany

Antriebe: Thyssen TW191, Steuerung: Kollmorgen MPK1000 oder 1001?. Hab eine 2er Gruppe mit ähnlicher Technik nur leider sehen die Steuerungen nach gefühlt 1000 Fa. die da drin rum gewühlt haben aus wie ein explodiertes Kopfkissen

Steuerung ist eine MPK2001. Die Anlagen hier sind auch schon bei mindestens der 3. Wartungsfirma, aber würde mal sagen die Schränke sind dafür noch einigermassen in Ordnung. Da gibt es schlimmeres und so mancher Schrank von den grossen vier sieht ab Werk ja mangels Kabelmanagment schlechter aus als das. xD

Just a quick note: AFAIK "Schmersal Aufzüge" and the component manufacturer were different companies. A bit like Aldi Süd and Aldi Nord. They came from the same family, but they weren't excactly working together. But I just head that thru the grapevine.

Unten rechts ein mechanisches Zeitrelais, mit plus/Minus auf dem runden Stellknopf. Ach wie lange ist meine Lehre her.😊 Also die Einstellung des Antriebsreglers hört am Motor nicht so schön an, aber die Drossel fürs abbremsen zwitschert echt nice.

Die Zeitrelais findet man in manchen Relaissteuerungen natürlich, beispielsweise fürs Anschalten des Kabinenlichts oder Blockierung der Aussenrufe bei steuerungen, welche nur einen Ruf akzeptieren. Einstellung bei diesen Anlagen ist so ein Ding, kann auch gut sein dass sie nicht ganz mit 100% Nenngeschwindigkeit fahren. Habe ich aber nicht nachgemessen. Die Einfahrten in die Etagen sind jetzt wenigstens gut eingestellt, das ist wichtig.

Hearing the sound of the startups, are you sure this doesn't do any harm to the motors? Their startup is (what we call in Dutch) 'belast' (belastet?), I mean with the load of the car and couterweight on it's back. I know this is common in lift technology, but in case with these lifts the question is, is it good for the motors, where with I take in mind the heavy cooling I notice on the machinery.

Indeed part of the sound doesn't sound that healthy anymore to me. I have heard a lot of these thyristor drives over the years and usually they don't have this very deep roaring sound at the start. That should not be. This lifts have benn in heavy use and I assume that the motors ar not in a very good condition anymore, probably the windings are at their end. Rewinding would make them as good as new but at some point there would probably just be new machines all together.

Thank you! Indeed the sound the sound of these machines is truly fantastic. Though it would not be like that if the motors would run on conventional VFDs instead of the phase-fired controllers with thyristors. Only this type of drive produces such an incredible sound.

What is a thyristor drive/controller? When do we use it, if it's still appear?

Thristor drives are the predecessors to modern VVVF drives, they were installed in the 90s before VVVF became widely available. They are not newly installed nowadays.

@@TheLiftDragon The installation of the machine and the deflector sheaves is different than regular because of the space in the room or for other reasons?

@@Moiraqi817 That is a typical way of installing the machines for some German companies, like Thyssen and also companies that buy their components from them. It is to increase the wrapping angle on the traction sheave and therefore to increase traction.

at 5:00 when you are in the motor room, there appear to be cracks on the main drive pulley. is this just a casing or is there some other explanation for that?

might be the paint cracking away due to age
