3 Advanced UP-B Tech | Cloud (Yes, I'm Serious) | Smash Ultimate

A detailed guide into Cloud's Climhazzard (Up-B) and some tech you'll see me use during my gameplay in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate. Apart from the obvious UP-B out of shield and Reverse Up-B out of shield, here are some different ways you can use Cloud's Up-B to improve your movement and gameplay.
One thing to note at 1:57 I mention to go for the ledge trumps at high percents compare to at low percents. While this is true, especially for Cloud as I think you mainly just want to do it to bag a kill, ledge trumping can be done at any percent regardless of their invulnerability frames.

I remember that Inking was a dasher and always jumped from the ledge, I just wanted the clip lol

The lower blast zone is raised if you were spiked and are still moving relatively fast. You can notice this if you watch the minimap anytime someone is spiked for the KO. Their dot disappears before it actually touches the map border (you can see it for a split second at 10:17). This is why Cloudcide (Aether, Chromcide, etc) KOs the enemy first near the blast zone.

The Cloudcide has to be with the middle of the sword and under the edge if you want your opponent to die first. You might still die first if they're at low % or if the stage has a deep floor like battlefield.

I may be wrong but I noticed the tip of the blade and the way down of Climhazard spikes very effectively. I think that's the spot you want to it for the third tech. Hitting your opponent on the way up will attract them to the middle of the blade, then you'll die on the way down first.

I know I’m late but I was messing around in training and realized that if you are a certain distance from the ledge (the exact position you’re in when you neutral get-up) and run off to reverse up-b, the timing window becomes extremely lenient, consistently avoiding ledge grab (because of the turnaround animation I guess?) and allowing you to be close enough not to sd.

I found that it’s easier to do the DJ Climhazzard if you hold down after inputing up b instead of timing it, though the first hit won’t hit as low.

I've been maining Cloud since he came out and never really knew about this until I watched the video :o There's actually another kind of Up B tech you can perform at ledge which I use. Its a mix of 2 and 3 actually. If you stand at the very edge of the stage, jump and Up B, you will perform a Climhazzard facing away from the ledge and still snap to it. Its great as a mixup when the opponent thinks im gonna Fair and then use this to spike them. It can also be done to two frame recoveries iirc :p Just make sure you jump at ledge or for some reason he will just SD XD

Note : the jump has to be a full jump. Short hops will get you to SD.

5:38 Ok with this its not that bad really. If your used to using chrom sides then you can do this just as easily. However with chimhazzard, chimhazzard has a sweet and sour spot.. his sweet spot being the second half of his chimhazzard. If you can use the falling slash you can get a nice dunk kill off stage. Thats why when you did the full up b earlier sonic recovered. I learned that cloud isnt a combo character, he just takes patience.

Hey, call me crazy but is just me or does clouds climhazzard seem a little inconsistent? Sometimes when I press it once the second hit still comes out, and sometimes when I’m mashing the button the second hit doesn’t come out. Am I missing something or is there some sort of rng to it? Or is there like a over sampling countermeasure to mashing it? Is there a specific timing I’m missing? Can anyone help me out or recognize what I’m talking about? I mean I’m like 95% sure my controller works fine.

You want to press b when you're getting close to the apex of climhazzard, could definitely be some anti-mashing countermeasure similar to anti tilt stick mashing, but not sure. In general, I'd recommend just mashing a little less lol

First, you need to know how to reverse up-b. If you can do that, then the rest is just about getting to know the timing. Dash off stage and then immediately input the reverse up-b. If you find you're inputting too soon Cloud won't "snap" to the ledge and if you're inputting too late then he also will miss that sweet "snap." Just work on getting the timing, inputs are quite straightforward (dash off, reverse up-b). Hope this helped.

It can if you hit at the very very top but I wouldn't risk it. Better to just go for the safer dair instead. Chrom and Ike's up b are scary, if you get caught you're hitting the blast zone for sure
