There’s a lot of guitars tuition on KZbin and I jumped around quite a few untilI I found Lauren who has the clearest messaging that is delivered with empathy for a newbie. You have to put the time in obviously but I’ve improved so much in just a week.

Lauren, I am bouncing between your course and these videos on U-tube this instruction between G and C is exactly what I needed. It may look like I am not progressing in the course but I am practicing on the cord changes and strumming patterns. Having trouble as my brain wants to invent a whole different strumming pattern.

Hi Lauren! I can personally vouch for the idea that trusting your ear really works. A neighbor of mine invited me over to his house one time and told me to bring my guitar. Quite honestly, I panicked because I'm not really skilled enough to be able to perform. What he did turned out to be a fantastic learning experience for me. He played about ten songs (the original recordings) for me and asked me to play along to the best of my ability. I had never heard most of them before but he encouraged me to find the melodies just by "feeling" how the notes were going (in other words, training my ear). By about the third song, I found -- much to my amazement -- that I was actually able to do it!

It's a huge sense of accomplishment when you are actually able ( through muscle memory) to switch between cords smoothly and not look.. And dropping in a new chord.. "practice practice practice" I have found that to be so fulfilling.... Thanks Teach... 🍎

Your methods are an absoute gamechanger. I started learnig two moths ago and kept forming the chords one finger at a time which ofcourse meant messy chord switches. Started the finger pushups 4 days ago and its been the biggest help already. I see significant improvements in forming chord shapes and switching between them while playing. Its been so useful i've made it a part of my daily warmup and intend to keep it that way. Thank you, you're one of the best teachers so glad I came across your channel!!

These videos are helping me so much and make me feel more confident in my playing (even though I sound terrible right now haha). In just two weeks of doing the exercises and chord videos my playing has improved a lot and I always try to fit playing time into my busy day so I can improve even more. I had a previous instructor who had 2 degrees in music, but not the understanding and patience and expected me to already be playing due to me having played the clarinet for years. Thank you for being patient with those of us who are just starting out with guitar. It means a lot!

I really like your tips. I am a 69 year old beginner, and although most of my chord changes are OK, I have trouble with the dreaded "F maj" chord. My barre finger is not too strong, and the other variations include repositioning the guitar in my lap, raising the neck of the guitar. Anything easier?

Do you know why you don't have more subscribers? Me neither. Thank you, Lauren, for some great tips. It was pointed out to me that the 'hang' during chord changes absolutely *kills* musicality... way more than a wrong note will. You just demonstrated that perfectly.
