Thank you so much for the free videos as they have helped me as a beginner to see where to focus my practice..

Awesome lesson. Chose Em and D6/9 (because I'm still working on Horse With No Name) , got my count of 30 BPM and within minutes I'm waiting to hit the next strum. Within half an hour I'm practicing Horse with no name, including down strum, at 60 BPM. One thing I did find that worked for me, was that rather than following the 4 dots at the top, I focused on the sliding dot and played at the start and end of each "slide".

You can't learn unless you make mistakes making mistakes makes you think and solve problems, when I practice with a metronome I use speeds: 15, 80, and 160bpm and the three values I use are 1/4, 1/8 and triplets all 4/4 time, scales, strumming and changing chords 160bpm is too fast for scales the metronome is a useful tool and this is the first video showing how to use a metronome and it is basically what I have been doing I am glad I am doing something right

I am one of your Platinum students. As such I started off using a metronome. It seemed easy and beneficial but got away from it as it appeared to impede any progress whatsoever. I was probably trying to do too much at once (for myself). I plan on trying again as this is the only way I will create any real progress. Thank you for the tips. Now if I can go from the online lesson to the Workbook without losing something of value.

you are so very helpful. I do not have the resources to join your classes, but you have been so very helpful. I have jumped around a little so ive explored pantaotonic scales but I am really focusing on chords and chord progressions. I know know about 13 chords and I can play them sight unseen. I find that exploring is ok but I always go back and conentrate on the basics. so now I practice scales as away of getting new familiarities and am now going to really concentrate on chord changes to the metronome. I have only tried about two songs and have one ok but I am not bothered by not playing songs...I am enjoying the process. When I am able I will make a donation as I could not have come this far without the clarity of your guidence or the understanding of age. ....Thank you Lauren...I really apretiate you. best regards.

I have tried and given up playing guitar several times over the last 15yrs (I am now in my 50's) but thanks to your videos i have started to learn again and am finding it understandable and not so daunting. I have been given a classical guitar that I have managed to restring and tune (thanks to You Tube) but am wondering if I should invest in a normal acoustic guitar as apparently a classical guitar is harder to learn with, I am wary of going to a shop as I am a salesmans dream customer and would end up buying the most expensive impressive looking guitar (it doesnt help that I have moved to France and dont fluently speak the language so I cant even ask the people for advice) Can you give me any tips with regard to this?
@LaurenBateman2 жыл бұрын
My biggest advice is buy something that's comfortable for your body. I good price range (in US dollars) is $300-$500 for a starter guitar. Better quality and easier to play. I like Ibanez, Martin, Taylor, Seagull, Crafter.

I am wondering how to use the metronome with a strumming pattern like DDU UDU. I hear the clicks and it is causing my U U to shift. I cannot seem to keep my strumming in time. I am going to try a simpler pattern like DDUDD and work on this for a while and then see if I can remove a D and keep it in sync.
