did bob ross use gesso before using magic white? because i never heard him say anything about using the gesso at the beginning of his show

Does the quality of gesso matter on a cheap canvas? in the uk we can get 500ml tub of gesso for £5 and multipack of ccanvas panels for roughly £1/panel. Thanks again for the videos

Not really - Its more than ok to start with the cheap stuff. You can even buy in bulk ( cause you will use gesso all the time on cheap canvases). You want the gesso to dry completely before you start painting. Hope that helps
