Another great video! A lot of artists, including me, don't really know all of the mediums (i.e. tools) available for them to use. Sometimes it can be exhausting. Linseed oil, walnut oil, solvent free gel, liquin, galkyd gel, there are just so many things! And they are so expensive! And I don't have time to play with all of them.

Blue shop towels are worth getting especially for painting. I don’t use them for anything else because they are more expensive.

I *needed* this video! I cannot get my clouds right at all, they always end up mixing with the sky colour. I can't wait to try the gel, I hope I can get it, or something similar, in the UK! The paper towel trick is awesome! The blue roll is useful for so many things, especially in the garage. It's worth the extra cost compared to normal paper towels.

what's the ratio for adding paint on top of black gesso? My crimson shows up right away and so bright when I put it on and gets pink right away when using the white

There is no ratio because it depends on what effect you are going for. I would recommend testing on a space surface to see what works best for you.

I try my best to help the community when I can. Can't hit all the comments sometimes ha ha ha. For the ratio... my best advice I can give is experiment and see what works best for you. Over the years I have heard so many different ratios and rumors... start with the 5/1 and test and see what needs to be refined.

Too much solvent will bre As a general rule it is wise to not add more than 20% or so -- from the gamblin website talking about there mediums, if you add too much theres no way to add more and can make the paint not stick to the canvas. 25% is too much for a second layer (last layer maybe) but as something you will potentially build on too much

Each manufacture is a little different.... Its a always good to check the back of the bottle or on the website for recommended ratios and maximum amounts allowed.

Remember make the worst painting and write the worst book, always put it down and then go back and edit later! It doesn't have to be perfect the first time!
