We are putting mud flaps on our Timpte in front of the front hopper gates, the rear hopper gates, and in front of brake pots and such behind the rear hopper. Will make it way nicer to keep clean

Chet sorry for the addition but if you just had to drill and tap a hole in the hub housing start drilling from the top when you get a good hole started rotate the hub 180 degrees or the hole is on the bottom now finish drilling and all of the filings will fall harmlessly to the floor repeat the same steps when you start to tap the threads, just a little tip...have a good day...

Mount an angle iron infront of the back hopper and hang mudflaps, that should help save the seals on the cylinders from rocks and the sand/salt mix on the highways in the winter

Don't forget your diesel bulk storage biocide treatment, for the algee that grows in diesel. A quick reference sign, fast plugging fuel filters. Your bulk fuel supliers would know what is available. We did it after every season with manure hauling. Pulled all the wheels to rotate them, and while they were off, checked/replaced bearings, did brakes if needed.

With my machine I got a card so you can mic your fittings to make sure you get the proper crimp, it also comes in handy if your dies start to wear as they get older👍🏼

Chet, with those wheel bearings...what we do on our farm is drill and tap the wheel hubs and install a grease nipple, then you can grease and pack the hubs every season by just taking the cap off and watching the grease push out. only way they last.

Just my sugestion would be to have mud flaps & wheel fenders on rear axles of your bottom dump trailers.I think they also look better than naked wheels,Farst AG had a new trailer with rear fenders & mud flaps check it out. Great videos Larson team keep em comming.

You should look at using polypropylene plastic blocks in place of the bearing as it has less resistance and good wear properties.

Add a fiber wiper dust shield to the cylinder that take abuse. The hydraulic hose manufactures have a gauge to check the crimps, go no go gauge, I had a supplier that made many hoses that failed until they discovered the wrong die was being used.

You should look into bearing buddy's for those hubs. Used a lot in marine applications. Jet boat pumps and boat trailer hubs.

When I worked hyd, repair I always put seals in boiling hot water. when they cool they shrink. I also used the hose clamp trick.

Around my area, people are running vegetable oil in their hydraulic traps. Less of an issue if you have a leak at a grain terminal.

For those cylinders that the BS was talking about taking rocks and road debris you should hang a rubber mat from the center under the trailer and it stops that we did that to our trailers keeps the salt down also in the winter

As long as the hose and the ends are from the same brand, you can do as they did by replacing the bad end. You do not want to mix one brand of hose with different brand ends.

Hi Guys I don’t normally comment because no one ever reply’s 🤷♂️🤷♂️ I have a couple of suggestions for issues you mentioned The rear trap door opener been damaged by objects been flicked off drive tyres. Build a bracket that can support a rubber curtain. That would easily fix the problem and cheaply and quickly Second issue You need to crack the small bung on drums to breathe the unloading,it will quicken the process I noticed you were unloading one with the bung still in. Hey. Get some knee pads. Save your knees for later. I'm 70 and still working on my knees. I wear one set over another set. Tiling guys use the best knee pad designs. 'Rubber' with replacement pads, straps and buttons.

We had trouble with those wheel bearings also. We were using the green John Deere grease. We switched to Royal Oil red max ep 100 never had any more problems. That Deere grease is junk!!!

In the South we would say that Chet knows no strangers. It's A good thing. Where are you getting the parts for the trailer? I have worked on them and the China stiff well lets find better. The bearing don't last in the back because of the flex. The trailer flex . be careful this year too every there. You have done everything a 100 times and in a hurry. Careful please because it takes 1 second to damage yourself and 1 minute of slow down to go faster and not get hurt.

Cut an old ag tire or loader tire in half. Tip barrel into the half tire. Pick up barrel with hydrolic forks. Cost of new barrel tipper. total = 1 saw zaw blade to cut a tire.

Never crack hyd lines. Deadhead them in 1 direction. Unsure of the system pressure but normally its very dangers to crack a line under pressure. Its not a brake line on the old pickup. Also what is attached to the rod of the cylinder you re built is call the piston. What the rod and piston goes into when reinstalling is called the barrell and is snugged up with the gland nut.

@@jamesmccabe1702 hydraulic lines under pressure is very dangerous. If not pump is loaded and pressure is released then it is safe. Sadly some systems are 2,800 psi and far past 7,000psi. Next time your pressure washing, test out the 0 degree tip on something youd like to lose. Just serious stuff that people should know.
