On the way back South from TST training, I stop by a familiar shop on the PA border.
The shop owner had one Chevy Silverado for me to diagnose, but by the time I got there he had THREE BROKEN CHEVY trucks on the lot!!
Let's get busy!
Part 1:
Chevy #1: 2011 Silverado 5.3 V8: Intermittent REDUCED POWER Limp Mode.
P2135-TPS 1 vs 2 Correlation.
Chevy #2: 2011 Silverado 5.3 V8: Intermittent STALL and NO-START. Plus an ABS light.
P025A Fuel Pump Control Module Enable Circuit
C0050 Right Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit
For Part 2:
CRAZY Chevy #3: 2018 Silverado 5.3 V8: BRAKE and REVERSE Lights stuck ON?? WEIRD!!

P2135 by itself is the dual female terminals inside the throttle body have lost terminal tension. You can get a throttle body sensor kit and fix it or you might be able to tighten the pin grips up. Need to disassemble throttle body to do it. Pop the clips off and keep sensor cover assembly facing up when you do though so parts dont fall out. GM has an extended policy on these for this repair.

Never ceases to amaze me how many of these issues are corrosion/ground/rubbing related. Makes sense with older vehicles I suppose, especially if the problem is intermittent and the parts cannon has been emptied. EDIT: Also, from experience with my 2012 Yukon, the engine compartment diagram showing the fuel pump relay & fuse, it is incorrect. It's a carry-over from 2007-09 (I think) models which still had them. They're actually in the FP Module afterward.

I’m usually team butt connector. But it has to be done correctly and it has to be the shrink and seal with the jelly in it. None of the cheap auto parts store crap. Of course there are some situations where you just can’t get in there with a set of crimpers and that’s where that ts100 comes in handy.

I know that Kenny Wessel & Eric O both use butt connectors but I wouldn't get that they're a Steve Walmsley mechanic in Australia, one of the reasons that I am not a mechanic by trade is because I will upset too many mechanics who are that Walmsley in my area (Jason & Dean as well). When I was doing an introductory Automotive course which was a joint school initiative with my local tech 30 years ago it was more of an industrial sort of course for anyone who wanted to become a mechanic but it was more to become a diesel fitter or mechanic or a plant mechanic,I could still cross over into automotive service to service & repair light vehicles but. Well, one of my teachers there was showing us how to solder wires, the trick was to bare both ends back, twist them together then to solder them !

You don't have to solder to the pin. New pins aren't hard to find. But you need a barrel crimp tool to install on the wire correctly. Or you can buy a new 2-pin connector with pigtails. Or forget the connector by using knife or handshake terminals with shrink tube over the top. I wouldn't do that for more than two wires, though.

If the crimp passes a tug test, it's good if you didn't crimp on top of the insulation (not stripped properly). For multiple wires like that, they make bare butt connectors that you then put shrink tube over. It ends up a lot less bulky than insulated connectors almost as slim as soldering. But they need a different set of crimps than insulated. Solder joints that pass a tug test aren't necessarily good. It could be a cold solder joint.

Crimped connections are inherently bad, solder connections are inherently good. WRONG! Either is good when done properly, in any car, wire to wire solder connections are extremely rare, meanwhile every pin in every connector is crimped. Solder can be done incorrectly just like crimping can. And solder has just as many pitfalls as crimping.

Y talk crap about another good mechanic in the same industry? Your way to fix things isnt always right... i have seen you hillbilly some stuff on here that wouldnt last a day. Cummins recommends crimp and sea butt connectors for all of their pigtails, the replacement wire comes from cummins with them half crimpped already.
