I kick over my highbacks a lot as well, but there's one lift at my resort that will crush them if I forget them up. Also I totally am using your idea for more highback angle.

legit concern and a reason probably not to make that mod.

Awesome mods! I was really disappointed with the limited highback angle adjustment on these bindings. Now I'm definitely going to give it a try. Thanks for the content! 😃

Hmmm. I disagree with securing the highback in the up position. I've never had any issues kicking the highback over in my Step-Ons. Also, I've ridden on plenty of old, low lifts where if you don't have the highback down when you get on, it could get crushed under the seat if you aren't paying attention. Additionally, locking the highback in the up position makes the board unwieldy when storing it. But removing them... now THAT is an interesting idea. I might just have to try that!

Two things- one, how tall are you? I’m beginning to think the kicking over issue is exclusive to us short leggers. Second, and my bad for not demonstrating in the video more in depth, the highback still has a ton of flex if it gets caught. It’s just stiff enough not to get kicked over but it’s still got lots of spring to it.

@@thedoubtfultechnician8067 Im 6'2 , if I don't flip down on a few lifts, it would eventually break them...I just flip it down out of habit now, its clean and i can literally flip it back up with my back leg now when getting off.

I fold them down when I'm getting on the chair or kicking around, this won't work for me. Tighten your retention bolts if your highbacks fold down easily.

I ain't know a thing about a thing in this video, but I like hearin' you espouse your anecdotal wisdom 'bout it nonetheless.

Won't taking the highbacks off put more strain on the plastic retention clips when going heel edge, increasing the chance they fail?

instead of a hose clamp, I'd imagine paracord would work well and is much lighter.

Standard zip-ties become very brittle in the cold...

50mph on a 50 degree day. Nice! Damn i miss snowboarding. I traded a lift/tech job for a wastewater job. Way more interesting, but much less beautiful

possible? yes. More likely? ...the constant pressure on zipties is going to eventually wear down the integrity. Rider weight X somecrazyformularepresentingheel/toetransitionsperrun = snap. (I too am an engineer....and thats why this is the answer)
