Instead of a scribe tool for smoothing your icing, Ijust shake my cookie and it settles it down evenly.

Hey Lolly! I'm new to your chanel, but I love you seem to be an amazing artist when it comes to cookies. I am an absolute begginer, but I want to make some special cookies for friends and teachers to give to them on the last day of school, and I have a couple of questions about decorating cookies. You added a dot pattern with an edible food marker, but would I be able to add it with small dots of frosting? Would that still look cute, or would the bumps make it look too complicated? Another option I thought of was a technique I have seen people do called wet on wet, do you think it would look good if I were to add slightly darker orange dots to the fill? Which one do you think would look better, or should I invest in edible food markers? Another question I have is, when filling with the flood consistency frosting, how do I prevent a visible distinction between the flood and the outline? I also was wondering if it is better for the cookie istelf to be more soft or more, like hard in order to decorate it better? How long does it take for the frosting to harden, and should I wait for the flood base to harden completely before adding details or can I just wait for it to crust over? Does the flood consistency and the thicker frosting have different drying times? Can I use a ziplock sandwich bag in place of a piping bag? How long do the decorated cookies last, like how far ahead of time can I make them? Thank you so much for your time, and if anyone else is able to answer my questions, I would greatly appreciate a response!❤

Thanks for the video! Do you have any advice on storage, or the best way to let the icing set before storage?

I have used black sugar pearls for eyes on cookies, and they bleed into my flooded cookie. Can I ask you if you have any advise on this? Thank you for your tips.

What count consistency do you use for your piping and outlining? Thanks.
@lollyshomekitchen8 ай бұрын
The piping is thicker, like yogurt, and the flood is about 60 seconds.

When I need to wait for an iced cookie to completely set and dry, where do I put it? Do I need to put them in the fridge? Leave them out on the counter? (Wouldn’t that dry them out, texture wise?)
@Olive_O_Sudden Жыл бұрын
Yes, cookies need to be out at room temperature to dry, but there are numerous ways you can arrange them so that they're covered and protected. Cookies for decoration are typically sturdy and don't stale quickly (e.g., buttery sugar cookies; gingerbread), so they can tolerate not being immediately stored in an air-tight container or resealable food bag. Putting iced cookies in the fridge is never a really good idea, as royal icing is extremely sensitive to moisture (it will break down and dissolve), and the fridge can be a very humid environment. Having several sheet or baking pans that have sides deeper than a typical cookie sheet can be a tidy way to put drying cookies safely aside, as you can place drying cookies on the pans, and then stack them on top of each other criss-cross. Another option for a small space is to use stacking cooling racks.
@madisonlawrence1120 Жыл бұрын
I like to store mine with cooling racks. Add 2 or 3 on top of each other and don’t put any cookies on the top row; Instead I cover the whole thing with a flour sack towel, and leave it on the counter.

I have just bought cookie cutters with words in the middle. How do I flood the cookie without covering up the words?
@resurrectionist5112 Жыл бұрын
You could try outlining around the words? The flood would be complicated, but probably doable. General words are added on top of the base icing layer tho.
@kayvillarosa7683 Жыл бұрын
@resurrectionist5112 yeah but the cookie cutters has the word in the middle of the cut. So, I can't paint it on later
