Here's the next Three For All lesson with 3 Dann Huff Licks From 1989.
Dann Huff is a legendary guitarist/studio pioneer going back to the late 1970s, not to mention he's also a founding member of the groups White Heart and the mighty Giant in the 1980s and early 1990s.
Over the years Dann's musical talents have filtered into highly-successful songwriting, production, and engineering work with a plethora of famous, popular, and successful modern artists in rock, pop, country, and several other musical styles. You may not know his name, but you have definitely heard him or his music somewhere, either on the radio, in television/film, and pretty much anything needing his "touch" in Nashville over the last 30 years.
This lesson focuses on a famous intro solo from the Giant song 'I'm A Believer' which is an often-overlooked tasteful display of some fretboard fire along with a little Hendrix-flavored string-bending heat. It will surely challenge those looking for some new licks and ideas to play around with in addition to exposing you to some great music from a guitar/producer/engineer/songwriting legend.

Myself and all my band mates were huge Giant fans after Last of the Runaways came out. Saw them on the tour for Time to Burn and it was kind of sad as they were already back to being a club act at that point. Which was great for us, standing 5 feet from the guy I idolized, but sad to see that genre of 80's rock die the way it did. Huff was an absolute monster, and the band was horribly underrated.

Thanks for giving Dann some long overdue props. He’s one of the best guitarists of the past forty years and at the height of Giant’s popularity was also a really good singer! If only the first two Giant records were maybe a year or two earlier, I think everyone would know his name. Great video, man and nice playing yourself!

Dave!!!!! for anyone who plays guitar Dann Huff and Giant and specifically I'm a believer is a must!!!!! the quirky thing about this tune is all the damaging " lure you in" guitar shredding is the lead in to an otherwise billboard type dare I say "TOTO" style tune. Thanks for making us so much better....you are the man!

You keep impressing me with the artists you do these chordplays and live licks. Just when I forget about a shredder from the 80's and 90's you come with a video. Those 1st two Giant albums were so killer. Not a bad track. And Dan was the kind of guy who could write a beautiful melody and then attack with a speed legato run. I believe he and John Sykes were the most talented singer/guitar player combos to ever live.

Shotgun Messiah was a great band.. I recall Heartbeat Boulevard and he did the string scrape that kinda sounds like a flanger which when I saw him do that in the video I had no idea EVH did that on Unchained.. and that clicked in my playing back in the day. Also the singer also played guitar however with Shotgun he didn't do much and shotgun Messiah singer later on down the line was a member of Marilyn Manson's band as a guitarist.. Strange days indeed most peculiar 🙃
