What a great experience for your nephew Alvar. That is a memory that will burn bright in his mind his entire life. You are a good uncle Matti, thank for letting me tag along vicariously. Kids and dogs make for a great trip in the beautiful wild countryside of North Sweden. I have also had bad luck with collapsing fishing rods. Good that you can give a two thumbs down on the one that REALLY bad one. Do you have a suggestion for a good one?
@JOKKMOKKGUIDERNA4 ай бұрын

I haven’t had any luck finding Oakly fishing rods on the internet.

Anyone have a good idea where to look for a Oakly telescopic spinning rods or for any a good high equality light telescopic spinning rods. I really like the idea of being able to make a few casts in likely spots, by quickly deploying the rod without putting a multi-piece rod and reel together.

That was a proper True North Adventure, thanks for informing us about the new sleeping bag. I heard a man was mauled and killed by a Bear 🐻 in jockmock 2 or 3 yrs ago so sad 😢
@JOKKMOKKGUIDERNA4 ай бұрын
I think that the guy who was killed by a bear last time in Jokkmokk was 2004 or something like that. It was a hunter that probably had shoot the bear first and missed. /Matti

What an epic adventure, Matti! 🏕 It sounds like your trip to Abisko had its fair share of challenges, but those are often the most memorable experiences. Wild camping, packrafting, and fishing in such a remote and beautiful part of Sweden must have been incredible, even with the hiccups. Thanks for sharing your journey 😃 Cheers, Simon - Tales From Abroad

Hi Matti, the area you visited looks amazing for an adventure on the water, those boats are ideal. Bad luck with the fishing, but thats the fun i guess not knowing what you will catch ! Those packs looked very heavy and well done to your Nephew for coping really well 👏 I hope you are finding the Niak a great tent, i really enjoy using mine, great space for the weight and the open front layout i find easy to live with. Thanks again for the videos, say hi to Stina and the dogs 👍

i havent watched the whole video yet, but are you using radios between you and your travel mate? because if somethings happen and you or him need help you can call the other. maybe a lightweight alternative would be a whisle?
@JOKKMOKKGUIDERNA4 ай бұрын
No radio. That’s just one more thing that has to be charged. We stay close to each other when we hike and paddle. While fishing it’s sometimes moments when we doesn’t see each other. Safety is to avoid risks. That’s exactly why we hiked out the last day. :-) /Matti

Do you sometimes feel like you have made your hobby into your work and that getting away feels more like work? Do you bring the same equipment and tent, etc. when you go with your nephew for fun as you would go with tourists?
@JOKKMOKKGUIDERNA3 ай бұрын
When you work with this, it becomes more like a daily life. I feel like I’m home out there… It’s a different level in most situations. The ‘work part’ of this is that I have to make the tour even in bad weather or if I’m super tired or ill. I will start to reflect little bit more on this subject and probably I can make a video about this. It’s a really good question! Thanks. Yes… very often I use the same equipment. :-) /Matti
@helvettefaensatan3 ай бұрын
@@JOKKMOKKGUIDERNA thank you. I asked the question about the equipment because it feels a bit like a ritual to leave all my usual clothes and stuff in the city and go out into the wilderness with somewhat entirety different gear. Not necessarily because I make it a ritual but because the use cases are so different. And that I think mountain equipment used as city fashion is often used to pose as outdoorsy and that I don't want to be associated with that. I am outdoorsy when I am outdoors and a city dweller in the city. My question was to what you think about that (to which you replied quite well, I just wanted to specify for your pondering).
