I love fishing for arctic char. Here in ICELAND we are lucky enough to have both the lake and the sea going version.

Hi. Great film. Loved the locations and fishing. How far did you have to hike in to the lakes? Other films I’ve seen about the north of Sweden always talk about helicoptering in which seems very expensive and not very eco. Thanks for sharing. 👍👍

Thank you! 😁 I think we hiked around 30 km + some extra in the area around our "main" lake! 👍

Hi guys , my name is Marshall like the (sheriff ) I have watched loads of videos on KZbin about fishing Northern Sweden and Northern Finland for the char on the fly and I have always fancied heading over to your part of Europe and trying out some of it but definitely don’t want to be in a camp we would rather camp ,hike and fish so if you don’t mind sharing some of your knowledge about how far North you’ve got to go to get some half decent fishing I am not asking you where you guys were fishing in your videos that would be a bit cheeky just to put us on the right track, we would be traveling by estate car from Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 ferry from England across then up into Sweden yes a long drive but it’s once in a life time and we ain’t getting any younger and we plan to be away for at least a month and this is where we need help about (roughly) is a fishing permit or fishing license these are the things we need help with so if you can help we would be very grateful. Yours MMackenzie 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🥃🎣🇸🇪

Hey! Okay, that sounds exciting, I hope the trip works out! I would say that from where the mountains begin around Åre/Jämtland, there are trout and char in the lakes. We prefer to explore lakes above the tree line, which are around 700 meters above sea level. At that altitude, there are usually more char/trout in the lakes, but sometimes also grayling. There are certain areas that have a fishing permit covering large parts of a mountain area, for example Kultsjöån's FVO, you can find a lot of information on NatureIT.se...but there are always lakes that are marked in red or owned by the Sami people that you need to keep track of! There are usually local tourist shops that can provide more information about their area. My brother is starting a guide company so you can check there if you're interested in guided tours for some more exclusive waters on this website flyfishingstories.com/
