Good AAR. Some ideas to think about. Can you use something besides Esbit tablets? Esbit tabs are nice but it's not like you can find them anywhere? Perhaps a "Fancy Feast alcohol stove. You can get the alcohol or an alternative just about everywhere. A good fat additive that I take up in the mountains is Pemmican. You can make a bunch fairly easily and form it into blocks or cubes. It may or not be exactly cheap, but you can reduce the cost by making it in bulk and it lasts years if stored right. I usually take about 2 lbs with me for a week long trek, which is not much more weight than peanut butter, but the calories and fat content are way better. I like the hammock. I wondered why you didn't take one once i saw you were surrounded by trees. I make bug nets for mine out of sheer curtains that you can get at Walmart for a few bucks. I sew them on three sides leaving the corners open to run my hammock through and a simple cord closes those. As long as its not touching the ground then your almost guaranteed no bugs. I carry a small, cheap drybag like you get in a 3 pack at Walmart for collecting my water. It rolls up to almost nothing. I use an old sheet scrap to pre-filter that going into my main filter. saves time and wear on your main filter. These are pretty cheap and light ideas that I've been using for years.

You can use alcohol with it. It comes with an alcohol cooker. I just like the ease of the esbit cubes and not having to carry a spare bottle of alcohol, tho I will use it from time to time. I didn't bring a hammock because honestly I just prefer to sleep on the ground most of the time. Thanks for the good comment and watching!

A trick I've learned is to supplement the powder with a tube of diaper rash cream. It's thick, and will save a big boy with strong thighs.

LOL !! that diaper rash is a killer !! First time i got it working in the orange grove's pulling apple vines & chopping Brazilian pepper plants outta trees, sat in a bathtub of cold water for 2 day's LOL.. Then i too discovered GOLD BOND 🤣👍🤪

Good AAR brother!!! Thankfully it's stayed colder than normal up here for the time being so the Ticks haven't been an issue at all which has been great. Good call on the Gold Bond, essential out in the field. Also for the groin, thighs, and nipples specifically, Eucerin Aquaphor Lotion is also excellent to prevent chafing and friction rawness. Good tip on the fill bags for the Sawyer system. Need to get a second bigger capacity one myself.

Glad you enjoyed it man! I'll have to give that lotion a try to. It was a good learning experience for me!

@@swampdweller1566 The Lotion is similar to standard petroleum jelly but it works way better for healing promotion on top of the chafing and rawness mitigation (I also use it on my Tattoos when I get a new one to heal lol). Awesome man!!! Overall you're doing it right, best way to learn and develop your setup is to get out and do it.

On the food satisfying but not filling, it’s the fat content. Look at supplementing your main meals with high fat items. Plus, the high fat items actually have a much higher calorie/weight ratio, meaning more calories for less weight.

You are correct, which is why I took the peanut butter
