I went for a drive up there a few years ago when I was staying in Bright, but I didnt realise until I got up the top how amazing it was. I would love to go camping there one day.

Highly recommended to camp there! Great facilities and really nice campsites but I'd recommend weekdays if you want peace & quiet. This was the first time we'd camped there too. And first time I'd seen Mount Buffalo was the same as you (we stayed at Mount Beauty and had a short drive up to have a look). It was so pretty that I'd always wanted to go back & camp there 😀 ~ Karen

There's nothing quite as satisfying as doing your best possible rooster call at 4.30am in a noisy camp ground. Quickly puts things in place and back in balance.
@naturephotographychallenge9 ай бұрын
hahaha!! 🤣We almost did that at the Brisbane Ranges campground when the people next to us stayed up talking right next to our tent late at night. Fortunately the families at Lake Catani all went to bed really early so the nights were pretty quiet. It was just all that screaming during the day that was quite overwhelming... but we know when not to go next time! 😀

Hi there! I've watched this video more than once, but on my TV... and forgot to go back on my PC and make a comment! Bad BAD Pia!! The Rail-video almost met the same destiny, but I'm gonna remedy it now (after *this* comment). This was a very popular campground, indeed. I share your dismay about getting noisy families as nature neighbours, but maybe partying peeps are even worse? Aaaaalllll night long, a s o. Anyway: getting Gang Gang Cockatoos, what a dream😍That's one of the Cockatoo species we're quite sure we'll miss, given our short time in their area. We can get lucky, ofc🤞
@naturephotographychallenge8 ай бұрын
oh yes! 😀 The camping neighbours could have been way worse! Just further up in the campground on the Friday night was a whole bunch of people partying with loud music. So, we definitely couldn't really complain about the families near us particularly after they all calmed down and went to bed. Hopefully you will see some Gang Gang Cockatoos on your trip. Possibly around the Dandenongs or anywhere with fruiting cypresses

Love Mt Buffalo and Lake Catani, we have camped there on different occasions. Listen to that rain. Love the Gang Gang Cockatoos. You know your flora well. I love the views from the Horn. You were lucky to get such a clear day. Loved your pics of the butterflies. Great adventure 👍🏼🤠♥
@naturephotographychallenge9 ай бұрын
Thanks so much! I'm sure you've both walked all the way up to the top of the Horn?? We didn't quite make it to the absolute top. Great boulders though. The whole area is so amazing to visit!!

Another beautiful video, myself and partner were up on Mt Buffalo just 2weeks ago such a beautiful place we also got envaded, I'm so jealous of you seeing the Ganggangs,they weren't about when we were there 😢When I vied your video on Goschen bushland reserve ,I took a trip to have a look, avery dry and dusty place, BUT l came across a flock of Yellow Vented BlueBonnet parrots amazing I've been trying to find these parrots 🦜 like forever and here they were, I got some fantastic photos 📸 of them, thanks so much.
@naturephotographychallenge9 ай бұрын
That's excellent!! I'm so glad that you got to see the Blue Bonnets at Goschen!! It is really dry and hot in summer!! Not the most pleasant place to be when it's like that. Not so good after lots of rain either... LOL!! Loads of mosquitoes! But if you time it right, it's quite lovely with loads of birds to see 😀 So... out of curiosity.... was your Mount Buffalo "invasion" on a Friday afternoon/night as well??? I've been finding that the most noisy of times when camping seems to be a Friday night 😀 ~ Karen

2:02 G'day Karen, yes late arvo /night and Saturday morning, we r retirees and we try to avoid weekends and public holidays but it doesn't always happen that way, l see you've been to Crusoe Reservoir l live 30min from there but it's a very popular place, I saw the pink robin about 2years ago there very brief and wasn't able to get a photograph I'll have to get up really early before the joggers and bike riders arrive 😂 John
@naturephotographychallenge9 ай бұрын
@@johnhynd8037 Hi John! Lucky you to live close to Crusoe! It's such a fabulous place for so many birds & animals. Love it! It's the nicest early or late in the day anyway. Who needs all those joggers in lycra panting & puffing?! 😅

Isn't it the most wonderful place! I really feel your pain about "the invasion" though. I also had no idea about the endemic plants. Your knowledge of all things small is wonderful. We visited Mt Buffalo in December once and had to deal with snow! Love your videos!
@naturephotographychallenge9 ай бұрын
Wow! Snow in December!! 😳 That would have been interesting!! The invasion was so disappointing so we're going to have to do a "do over" at some stage so we can really get to enjoy the peace & quiet we would have liked. It was really beautiful though and I'm so glad we went ~ Karen

I hereby dry my anxious sweat from my brow 😅Rain, hail or shine... Fingers crossed for maybe none of it: high overcast is best, imo.
