Hi Ashley, thank you. The good thing about painting wood is that to me, no wood/ bark is exactly the same, so you can make much of it up as you go along, that's simply some of what I did here. 😊

Stunning. I’ve just started to paint with watercolour so I’m a couple of years behind. But I do have a question. What made you decide to use watercolour as your medium of choice. Can’t be because it allows you a very high degree of realism and detail for you can achieve that with acrylics oils coloured pencils pastels etc.

Hi Elizabeth, for the 40+ years that I've been painting, sometimes using oils, acrylics, coloured pencils etc, watercolour came into my world around 20 years ago. I love the challenge of painting with what basically is coloured water, lol. Working from light to dark has to be done in layers, plus I like to go against the norm and try to paint realistically, rather than the traditional loose expressionist method used for this medium. Great fun! Paul 🎨
