You can press the honk button in Kitty Kart to talk to some of the NPCs. There is a dog kid in the water at the desert course, and also a human girl in the Wario-Stadium place. Also the Dream emulator comparison is spot on, because that was the theme of the game jam it was entered in

Not gonna lie, Kitty Kart 64 really wasn't scary in my opinion. The whole "starts out cute but then you walk through an uncanny space until jumpscare with little to no explanation" genre is just so overdone and played out at this point. It reeks of tryhard creepypasta. The second game with the mushrooms was a lot better because it has an actual plot and the twist of "the snow is actually spores" is a cool twist. Also doesn't rely on lame jumpscares. The deer hunting one was decent too, did a good job with the creepy vibes. Hearing footsteps behind you in a dark forest is bound to creep you out because of how realistic a fear it is.

I’d actually argue the original games out there are the underrated ones nobody hears about because the ones that we keep seeing are just copying and pasting for money. The really good games are just in development hell for so long

@@OmegaVideoGameGod Even then, they're inspired by previous works even if they're not a direct copy. Hylics 2 is one of the most creative games I've ever seen and it's inspired by everything from Earthbound to Grimrock.

i thought the snow of basidia thing was gonna end up being ash from a volcano but nope. its so much worse. pardon me while i sit and ruminate on how scary it would be if volcanoes threw fungus spores everywhere all over the earth. that's a depressing way to go. but also the game makes good use of camera angles when talking with npcs to add to that panic and terror.

For your creepy things In family games videos; the spy vs spy Xbox game is just creepy as hell all around. That game gave me nightmares as a kid, something about all the characters being those creepy plaque doctor looking guys, and not to mention the deaths can be pretty fucking gruesome (even in the over the top cartoony fashion it’s portrayed in) Still played it till the old Xbox died though, fun game. (If you already covered this I’m sorry)

In Kitty Kart 64 you also could have honked when nearby another character such as the white, faceless cats, to get some dialogue. There are some other characters in this game too such as a little girl in the mud area, a bunny in the desert area and a mouse in the area with the many balloons. Only the white cats' dialogue is illegible but someone found out what they say. There is also a white cat sitting on the edge of the road and fishing and they say things like "I'm fishing here, don't scare the fishes" and "don't be scared, I'm not gonna hurt you".
