3 Doors Down was huge here in their hometown area of South Mississippi. They played nearly any concert venue that would have them back before and just after this album released. About the song's meaning, Arnold has said: "That song seems like it's really just kind of like asking a question. Its question is kind of a strange one. It's not just asking, "If I fall down, will you be there for me?", because it's easy to be there for someone when they're down. But it's not always easy to be there for somebody when they're doing good. And that's the question it's asking. It's like, "If I go crazy, will you still call me Superman?" It's asking, "If I'm down, will you still be there for me?" but at the same time, "If I'm alive and well, will you be there holding my hand?" That's kind of asking, "If I'm doing good, will you be there for me? Will you not be jealous of me?" That's the basic question that song's asking, and maybe throughout the years of singing that song, I might have come up with more meanings for it than it actually might have originally had."

The video opened my eyes to this song. Seeing your parents age and becoming weak and losing their minds. When you're a kid, your parents are God and when they get old, after all they sacrificed for us, we shove them in a corner of nursing home somewhere and act like they're just goofy little kids.

That’s a good enology and very thought provoking. My granddad was my superman and to see him become weaker by the day hurt so much. We, his descendants, took care of everything for him thought. No old folks home for him. He died in the built with his wife.

I’ve been to 3 of their concerts and they are great! One concert was at a small venue just a few years ago. It was a really intimate setting called “Back Porch Jam”. All the songs were acoustic and they talked so much more than a regular concert. It was literally like we were hanging out with them. One of the best concerts I’ve been to.

I was visiting friends in upstate New York and caught this song playing on a Toronto progressive rock station - before it caught fire in the US. Really dug the song. I live outside San Francisco. When I got home, I saw 3 Doors Down was literally playing a community softball park in the north bay (Rohnert Park to be precise). Got tickets. We were the only people there in polo shirts and khaki's. Everyone else were in black tees, jeans, studded belts and leather vests riding Harley's. lol The warm up band??? Lifehouse! Six months later we saw Lifehouse play at the Warfield in SF. Can't make this stuff up.....

I was in high school when this song came out around 2000. I thought it was a bit odd that the instrumental guitar parts were praised by guitar magazines as "a comeback of guitar solos" back then, which kinda tells you how unusual it was to hear guitar lines like that back then. Those were weird times indeed XD

I remember my early years 15-16 years old, walking with my friend to another friends house. On the way we would pass by a garage (I think it was coming from the garage) and hear these guys playing and laughed and made some silly remarks about how they sounded bad and would not make it. We walked this path through town at least a few times a week. Fast forward time a short while and these guys had the number 1 song in America for some time. I used to have a version of this song that has been long lost. It was much heavier and we played the hell out of that cd. The songs "loser" and "Down poison" are also good hits among a few more from this album. Fast Forward 8-10 years or so, and my Aunt (R.I.P.) married the brother of Chris Henderson the guitarist from 3 doors down. Fast forward to today and I am sharing this little bit history with all and recording it here on my now favorites reaction duo. Till this day hearing anything from this album takes me back to Pascagoula 97'-99'

Love the band 3 doors down. I seen them a couple of times and they sound like a CD with clarity and they play loud but its clean without a bunch of distortion. You should react to "If I could be like that" their are many others as well. The song is stating if he goes off on his girl friend because she is taking everything he does for granite will she still see him as her superman. The girl is his Kryptonite. Love the play on words... When we were married without kids my wife was my kryptonite and once you have kids they become your kyptonite.
@mariebishop73572 жыл бұрын
The basic lesson in this song is, we need each other, not just in bad times, but good times as well. You see someone who is doing well, and you think, okay, they don't need me because they're in good shape. But we always need the human connection, no matter what is happening.
@AddSerious2 жыл бұрын

The song was written by the band's vocalist and drummer, Brad Arnold, in a mathematics class when he was fifteen and was one of the first songs he ever wrote. About the song's meaning, Arnold has said: "That song seems like it's really just kind of like asking a question. Its question is kind of a strange one. It's not just asking, "If I fall down, will you be there for me?", because it's easy to be there for someone when they're down. In this episode of Brad & Lex, the roll of the drum draws the intrigue of both Brad & Lex as Brad Arnold's contradicting smooth AND gritty vocals, metaphorical lyrics and upbeat tempo spark theories amongst the two. Lex takes kindly to the chorus and calls it her "favorite part" while proceeding with several "bops" equipped with "murmur mouth" and "drummy hands". Brad enjoys the "marching drums" but is slightly moved besides a slight "sway" for he is the man of "still".
