Not that your other videos are not, this is a really smart video. Thank you for your experimentation and explanations! Seriously. I wonder if using purified water (reverse osmosis) vs. bottled spring water would have any impact on the final results and longevity of the sanitizer? I don’t suppose you would explain the math in determining what final alcohol percentage is produced. I have looked at calculating the formulas and smoke starts to roll out of my ears. Thanks again for a fantastic video!

Can you substitute the glycerine for coconut oil or with something else . I can not find glycerine. TFS great video.
@TheFrugalMinimalist
@TheFrugalMinimalist 4 жыл бұрын
I don't know of a substitution for glycerin unfortunately. It mixes completely with the isopropyl alcohol unlike coconut oil. In a pinch, I have heard of some using the alcohol directly on skin then moisturizing immediately after, but I have not tried this myself and can't say how it works. I hope you can find glycerine or aloe!

The only problem is that these recipes require isopropyl alcohol. I don't think there's a bottle of the stuff available for purchase within 100 miles of my home at the moment. :-(

I’m so glad I found your channel Wendy. Reading your About Me page is so similar to my up bringing. I went through that period of crazy consumerism and I still struggle with it sometimes. I am still working on clutter and getting my house in order. Your videos are very informative and cute. I love your song choice while you are washing your hands- brings back 90s vibes:) I just made your third recipe and I can’t wait til I get the glycerine to try the other recipe. My mom was just asking to see if I can pick her up some sanitizer but of everything is sold out here. I put my solution in a small spray bottle and set it to more of the droplet setting. I also love re-using the foaming soap containers. I also use one for the kitchen re-using the Dawn soap from Sam’s with the pump. I was trying to figure out a way to make the sanitizer to be used in a foaming solution like the Purell foam. I really appreciate you and your son’s work on the formula. Thank you!

Hi, I'm so happy to read your message! It's always neat that YT brings together like-minded folks, often of similar background. :) I hope you can find the glycerine too! I bought mine from Sprouts and they had plenty when I was last there a couple weeks ago. Thank you for the information on the Purrell foam. I've not heard of that and now I'll need to go look that up. I hope you and yours are well and safe!

@@TheFrugalMinimalist I was able to find hydrogen peroxide online. I also saw that it is available through veterinary and farm supply sites. Wow I didn’t know about the shaking off bit. Does it cause more germs to get in the hand, Susan?
@susanvelez6534
@susanvelez6534 4 жыл бұрын
The Frugal Minimalist okay so it's more about the patient than us, we wash our hands then rinse each hand off just under the water so if we shake and we still have any germs it could effect the patient so in our hospital I wave my elbow under the paper towel machine, take the paper towel then clean off the water on my hands pat dry then turn off the water with the paper towel( but we have auto faucet) . Part of our code of ethics and it makes sense. When a doctor does surgery he washes his hands up to his elbows rinses his hands in the surgical sink, does not dry them at all a nurse puts on his surgical gloves. I'm hoping I was able to answer your question Wendy. Your welcome , I'm not going to lie all of us are scared but we have to be there for our patients. Thank you darling! 🙅🏻🙅🏻🙅🏻🙋🏻

I only 70% alcohol n Glycerin and Hydrogen Peroxide can I use these 3 ingredients to make Sanitizer?
@TheFrugalMinimalist
@TheFrugalMinimalist 4 жыл бұрын
Yes you can use the 1 cup 70% + up to 8 teaspoons of another substance. If I were making it I’d use 1-2 teaspoons of the glycerine. If you’re using it soon, you don’t need the hydrogen peroxide, just use water to make up the rest. The less water/h2o2 you use, the higher the alcohol percentage. I hope this helps!
