I finaly realized what's holding me back. It's hard for me to lucid dream because absolutely nothing surprises me in waking life. So in the dream, anything strange is just passed off as something minor. I've even revisited the same place in multiple dreams and gone "wow I've dreamt of this place! Can't believe I'm here for real!"

Last night I managed to have FOUR lucid dreams in a row! I first did a reality check like normal and saw I had multiple fingers than I should’ve so I was dreaming and flew around in the city, then I had a false awakening and sorta lost my lucidity, but then I realized it was abnormally dark at this time so I did the reality check, the finger through hand check didn’t work but the counting fingers one did! I did a few other things before ‘waking up’ again only to realize it was another False Awakening! I was confused so I did a reality check again and I do remember doing something like walking around but it faded away, but then once again I had a false awakening and I checked my fingers but they seemed normal, but when I checked my thumbs there were two. Then I flew to a city and I woke up for real! Best lucid dream experience I think I ever had since it felt super vivid!

I've always struggled with checking at emotional moments. At first it wouldn't even cross my mind to check but now, during those moments, I've been having the thought to check. Having the thought to check is good but I've been using "logic" to avoid doing checks at those moments. A prime example is when I'm going through a rough moment with crying and anger. That little voice in my head tells me to check during those intense moments but "logic" states that I should wait (and thus, not do the checks). This is partly due to that a check in a rough mental space could do more harm than good (a rushed check) but I also struggle with doing checks in happy moments. Even though I'm in a right mental state to do a check, it feels "wrong" to do a check in those moments as it acts as a stopper to those moments and makes me feel slightly worse. There's a lot of balance involved in these things. With checks and emotions, I have to learn that a check isn't a thing to use when I want to calm down as it makes me not want to do a check during a really happy emotion. On the other hand, I have to learn to do checks even when I don't want to (much like dream journaling). Balance is hard to achieve in this subject but I hope that work and patience will pay off in the long run. Thanks for the great video today! I'm sorry if this comment seems especially gibberish as I probably need some choline!

I know this is a bit weird but as a 10 year lucid dreamer I’ve actually stopped lucid dreaming because the complexity and richness of my regular dreams surpass lucid dreams. I was getting lucid 3-5 nights a week sometimes 2-3 times a night consistently and getting really good at controlling the dreams. I got good at staying lucid too, Having lucid dreams from 30 minutes to even two days!Eventually I realized that the things my mind created when I wasn’t lucid were so much more incredible than any thing I could do while lucid. I quit lucid dreaming and decided to let my subconscious take the reigns. Best descision ever! No stress no worrying about reality checks and the most interesting stunning subconscious adventures. I mainly focus now on recall and time dialation. My lucid dreamer phase was great but boy is there so much more to dreaming than that

This makes me sad. 😢 First of all, a 2 years long lucid dream is totally bonkers. If that really happened it most certainly wasn't a lucid dream. Non lucid dreams can last for 2 years, yes. But not really. It just appears that way, your mind just cuts out alot of stuff and adds fake memories so it appears that a lot of time is passing. you could dream from a journey, you're home, packing, you're on the airplane, you're on the beach swimming, you're at a bar drinking, back at home, remembering the journey which was like 2 weeks, and it all happened in 5 minutes. Same thing happens when having a 2 years long dream. In real It's just 5 minutes to 45 minutes Maybe up to 2 hours (theres no real evidence for rem lasting that long I think), but most certainly not 2 years. If you're keeping a dream journal and work on your dream recall you will understand how your dream director works. So when you're really lucid dreaming, you can't do that kind of a journey. You wouldn't even make it to the airplane. Not without a . Cuz lucid dreams happen in real time without the cuts non lucid dreams have. What makes me really sad is that you are getting one important thing wrong. Lucid dreaming and controlling your dreams are 2 separate things. You can be super duper lucid and still let the wonders of dreams happen, I totally feel you. I love my dreams, absolutely and what so ever adore them. So why not using lucid dreaming to experience them live, In the moment, as a real conscious experience instead as "only" memories. You don't have to control them. Alot of people out there make it seem that dream control is the most important thing. But it's very easy actually. It's in us. We want to have control. So first thing everybody does is focusing on dream control. Like crazy. But the really cool things, what you are totally going for, will happen when you give up control.

Agreed, it's a great study. I enjoyed it greatly back when it was first published. It's sadly what became distorted as WBTB despite being a very different concept. Shocking how few people realise the importance of sleeping more, not less, and taking advantage of that additional REM period that can be unlocked with a nap after a full night's sleep.

Going to bed an hour earlier is efficient, but is it the earlier the better? Or is there a turning point where going to sleep earlier than that wont help? Would it be better to go to bed say 1h 30min earlier? I'm trying to maximize the chances as much as possible! 😁

Not right before sleep as that might give you insomnia. Just eat it with a meal and raise your general levels. An alternative is to have it half way through the night, if you wake in the night.

Hi I've got question if I can ask You I read on Reddit that there is no need to stabilize lucid dream is that true?
@LucidDreamPortal
@LucidDreamPortal Жыл бұрын
I'd recommend treating everything you read on reddit as the equivalent to heading to the local skate park and asking the teenagers what they think about quantum physics. In other words, entirely not worth your time. The short answer is: nobody knows for certain, not enough research. Longer answer: If you're waking from REM then there's pretty much nothing you can do about it. However, that doesn't mean that you're always at the end of REM if you start waking up, and in those instances trying something like spinning can help one stay in the dream (anecdotal evidence only here). But I have no idea why anyone listens to anything they hear on Reddit or Discord. It's incredibly rare that anyone who actually knows what they're talking about would spend any significant time (if any at all) in such spaces - higher achieving people tend to be more productive with their time.

Hi Daniel. Thanks for the info. I've already been doing the choline and rɘality test suggestions, and I might be starting to implement the earlier bedtime suggestion soon. Recently, I had an experience that in my current opinion is my ʇirst true lucid dream, but there is something that is still somewhat of a mystery to me. The experience started when I was in a train of thought after performing MILD, and when I was thinking about the entrance of my house, the thought quickly became more and more realistic, until it became a fully fledged dream. When I performed the nose pinch test to confirm I was dreaming, I was performing my movements as if I were performing imagined movements during IMP, but these movements also began to rapidly feel more and more realistic. Even though I've practiced staying calm during my daytime reality tests, in this experience, I was so shocked and excited that I awakened shortly after realizing it was a dream. Can this experience be considered a true lucid dream? If not, it would be interesting to learn more aspects of how locomotion works in the dream world. Whatever this experience was, it inspired me even more to live the lucid lifestyle. You were absolutely right when you said in your skydiving video "lucid dreaming is not some silly little thing you do at night. It's about a lucid life, living a fuller life doth in your dreams and here in the waking world (or is it?)." Thank you, and stɒy lucid!
@LucidDreamPortal
@LucidDreamPortal Жыл бұрын
Hi Dimabean, firstly thank you for being awesome and supporting my work - it really makes a difference! I'd say that definitely counts as a true lucid dream (it's quality of mindset, not length that matters in these regards). It is *very* surprising when the training all comes together and works - so don't worry about the early awakening, it's to be expected in the early stages - it's impossible to fully prepare for how much it will take you by surprise, and how real the entire situation feels. Even though we understand logically what will occur, experiencing it first hand is something very different (similar to the skydive, in fact!). It's odd that you mention skydiving, as I've just returned from one right now! (I do like to recharge the dream-food for the brain now and then - and wanted to introduce a friend to the experience too), so that's a fun bit of serendipity! Dream locomotion is much the same as you'd expect in waking life - you essentially become fully present in the virtual world of dreams, with a convincing virtual body. From that point, part of the issue is deprogramming your physical body expectations. But yes, living a fuller and lucid life is absolutely where this subject will take you, if you study it with the right attitude. Stick with it, that short experience is just a taster of what is to come, and over time the dreams with lengthen as you become more familiar with the reality of the experience. Stay lucid!

@@LucidDreamPortal Yes, and it was very weird to start feeling my physical body again when I was waking up, as if these feelings are superimposed into the feelings of my dream body.
