You never fail to amaze me. I love how you always show alternatives in your tutorials, not just one way of doing things. I love the simplicity of the second cake which leads me to a question. When you where piping the first yellow color I noticed buttercream squeezing out between the base of the tip and the bag. Why does this happen and how can I prevent it? Thank you for sharing and keep on caking 💜

Great question! At 5:05 there is a tiny hole in the piping bag, which happens when you re-use plastic piping bags lots and lots of times. Frosting will squeeze through the hole and if you want to continue using the bag to finish the cake you can wipe the frosting off the hole and cover the hole with a piece of tape, which will seal it for a while :)

Hi, I'm a big fan of your cake decorations and your tutorials! However, I've been wondering if you have an alternative that I could use instead of buttercream, for my friends and family find it too heavy. Anything that I could use for piping flowers etc? Do you have any ideas?

Hi I like the 2nd one it's stylish and so pretty. Do you chill the cake for every color you apply or you frost it the same time with multi color.

Emily, these are beautiful cakes and very doable. May I ask if you made a stiffer buttercream for your 1st cake? For example, the ribbon decoration seems like it would need to be quite stiff to hold in place.
