Yeah, I'm now stressing about the fact that when I smile without teeth, I think the right side is always higher. I think it's related to asymmetry in my bone structure, and may also have something to do with anxiety. I don't think my eyes are typically neutral, even if my smile is crooked, but I'm still concerned the smile might be easily misinterpreted.

The same is true about the full dark eyebrows comment. There is no way that a biological feature such as having dark full eyebrows is really an indicator of someone being a narcissist. I am sure there is zero scientific evidence that the actual kind of eyebrows someone has correlates with narcissism.

Thank you for mentioning that people with neurodiverse brains can be different. We have more trouble with these sorts of things, and often might make expressions that make us appear weird, but are not meant that way at all. We are often misread by neurotypical people. I've been accused of being stuck up or lying when that was the furthest thing from my mind.

I agree. Singular cases of narcissistic traits here and there does not make someone a narcissist. For example, vanity is a narcissistic trait, but being vain does not make a person someone with NPD. NPD is a disorder, which means that a person need to have many traits consistently on display. If a person has emotional empathy, it is safe to say they don't have NPD as the lack of emotional empathy is a key characteristic of a narc.

It's risky using someone who needs to put on a public persona as part of their job as an example of inauthenticity. There are plenty of days you don't feel up to the task, or maybe had an argument behind the scenes with somebody and had to play nice for the cameras. There could have been a general script, or preapproved topics to talk about and someone breaks those boundaries, throwing one off. Celebrities, politicians, royals and other public figures experience this all the time, it's part of the job. Of course sometimes the mask slips, because you have to play for the cameras. You can find examples of this mask-slipping with all of the other royals too, as well as other public figures. It would have been better for you to show examples from fictional tv series and films or even stock videos.

I have definitely experienced that smirk and the stare. In my experience with both my narcissistic ex and a toxic boss, the wry smirks were coupled with no direct eye contact ie smirking at my exacerbation/frustration/stress/panic .. while looking downward to avoid eye contact. In retrospect, it is very telling. It’s the kind of smirk someone has when they know they are guilty of something but will let you panic and stress while you do not suspect them. The stare is designed to be incredibly intimidating. And it is.

(from video) 3 facial clues that expose a narcissist clue 1- condescending smirk clue 2- intense stare of intimidation clue 3- raised eyebrows ---- many years ago, my ex-neighbor (who was eventually discovered to be a narcissist) brought her 30-year old daughter and grandkids over to her place. the grandkids at the time (girl - age 9; boy - age 7) were super nice towards me and bonded pretty fast. one red flag i saw at the time was how the ex-neighbor reacted as the kids were hugging me. she had this weird look of disbelief. when i looked over she put on a fake, rehearsed smile. a texas-sized red flag was discovered when i was giving the 30-year old mother compliments about her kids. while i don't have kids, i think most reasonable parents would take some pride for the kids and themselves. the mother looked away and had this lizard-like stare of disgust and disdain that went on for a good 5 seconds. both the mother and the grandmother admitted that the kids liked me and wanted to see me, so i asked them to follow-up and let me know. unfortunately over time i put 1 and 1 together, and i saw who and what the mother and grandmother were about - they were self-absorbed narcissists. as a result, they decided to weaponize access of the kids against me. i was not able to see the kids anymore. cheers from southern ontario, canada 🍁

I think some people wear a mask to try and shield themselves from criticism when they're vulnerable. So a fake smile when they actually feel miserable might be based on them not wanting to deal with wild speculation on who they are, what they're thinking, etc. Some people don't like crying in public, so they tighten their face into a neutral look, which is tiresome, and can contort from straining. I'm saying this from experience. Chronic depression leads me to strain a smile here and there, in support of others, to not burden them with my feelings, etc. I guess I'm just thinking up alternatives to what that example might be. You could be right. You have a lot more experience in this stuff. Just a thought.

I think you get MM wrong. If you watch when she switches from looking up at someone and smiling, but instantly going flat as soon as she looks down, she’s a pleaser, maybe even abused. I saw that all the time in police work. She’ll be whatever the next person who engages with her wants her to be. That how a lot of abused children and women get by. They learn to read the situation instantly and become whoever the abuser wants her to be to keep from being hit. Check about 7:10 in her where she's wearing the camel coat. In any event, I don't think an actor is a particularly good example.

In many of the clips of Markel, she quickly changed facial expressions by dropping a smile and her eyes went cold, or she went from cold to warm in her smile but her eyes didn’t match. My mother does this. My ex husband does it. My dad does it. They were exhausting and terrifying until I stopped engaging.

This eyebrow thing would be super hard to suss out in our eyebrow grooming obsessed society. I’m a makeup artist & even on myself, if I’m going to do the most basic, quicky face, I do brows, tinted spf, bronzer, mascara & lip plumper gloss. I think we have to take into account the person overall. This is harder to do with strangers. This is why it’s important to TRUST ourselves & our intuition. "It's better to be a pretend somebody than a real nobody"... I lived this for most my life due to childhood incest; rape; gang rape and physical abuse. I went on to marry narcissistic sociopathic abusers. After all, it's what I knew best. After 35 years of therapy, 6 psych ward admissions and two suicide attempts that I finally worked through this and I'm on the other side. Another great video! I’ve also noticed that the facial cues they use are repetitive. If you do not react, they will use the same exact facial gestures to illicit a response that they didn’t get the first time. Over and over again. It’s robotic, like they only have several practiced emotional gestures, that seem to have the same intensity (to little or to much for the given situation) that don’t seem to fit. Hard to notice the first time you meet them, but then there is a sequence of words a gestures that are in the same order and cadence as the last time with little variation.

I started noticing my mom's intense stare (and she can stare without her eyes shifting or blinking for a very long time). I have stared back, and she just keeps staring until I now say "what?" Then she shrugs and walks away - still a power move. I feel so sorry for my inner child having to confront this terrifying stare from someone who should be a caregiver. Somehow she manages to combine a sense of hatred and coldness in that stare. Like when you see movies of a psycho killer watching their victim die. And BTW, good choice on Markel. That is one creepy looking woman. I'd say that smirk at the Queen's funeral was either because she was glad it's a funeral, or over the grief of others.

Certain narcissists will also use control tactics. I have dealt with 2 different individuals. One used food. Bought desserts then would monitor what I ate and in retrun would call me fat. Also would with hold sex as well as affection , such as hugging. In return would always choose when to be intmate on his terms. There was a time I was ignored withoit a explanation for 2 weeks. No talking. Lived in the same home. The other would pout and make you feel guilty for not bring in the mood or even in my case having a migraine. He would keep nagging in a sick way till he got what he wanted. I also encountered a narcissistic alcoholic that was abusive and would later state he blacked out. Also, would crank the music up late at night without any consideration of the neighbours who may have to get up in the morning for work. Even if you politely asked him to stop it would escalate.

Narc Eyebrows. It's hormones. Chemical and hormonal imbalances can be seen in the growth of bodily hairs. Signs of stress and anxiety can be seen in aspects of facial hair. A dysregulated body will produce dysregulated hair growth. A Narc will focus their attention and brain power in the prefrontal cortex part of the brain. This affects the growth of the eyebrows, especially in the centre.

Interesting... 1 & 2 make sense to me, but I'm not sure about 3 (eyebrows). I over-groomed my eyebrows in the 90's and I'm stuck with what I have. Now, thicker eyebrows are in, which I will never have. It's a fashion thing. Also, there's Botox to consider. In some of those videos, it looks like she's had Botox as an eyebrow lift? Hard to tell without seeing movement of the eyebrow area. The smirk I have seen in my own relationship(s)... perhaps even the stare, although, more often than not, I'd see the smirk and then no eye contact, as if hiding the smirk.

My mother, too. Her contempt, control, and criticism were impossible to hide, no matter what she was actually saying. She could be giving a compliment outwardly, as in the words are seemingly supportive, but her true intentions were always seething just under the surface. Seven months ago, I went no contact. Initially, I felt horribly guilty. Then I became very depressed because I knew she would (and she did) start the mother of all smear campaigns against me and estranged me from the rest of the family. I felt like I was in mourning, as if she had died. It finally hit me that I was in mourning, but not for a loss of life, but for the mother who I could never have. But, here's the silver lining. Shortly afterwards, I moved house and befriended my neighbour who is the same age as my mother, but treats me the way I wish my mother had. She is the mother I always wanted! We talk every day. She is genuinely loving and concerned about me. I have never been so happy! It's almost as if when I finally ended my relationship with my narc mother, my real mom entered my life. I hope that you find that real relationship, too. ❤

First of all, I would like to say that your videos are wonderful and have been very helpful to me to me in the past. The content, the style and delivery all are all great. However, this is the first video of yours that made me feel sick and uncomfortable. This video is in exceptionally poor taste. Firstly, it's deeply unethical to publicly diagnose someone with a personality disorder or imply they have said disorder without a formal diagnosis and their consent. Furthermore, this is a woman in the public eye who hasn't been a danger to anybody. The wife of a man who has publicly stated that he felt he had to emigrate with his family to protect them, due to public harassment of said wife. Fears that are perfectly reasonable, given that he lost his own mother to that sort of harassment. If you needed to use examples, there are plenty of royalty-free stock videos that you could have used, as I've seen many other content creators use. You could also use fictional examples from films and tv series. There is no need to smear a woman for engagement, no matter what your feelings on her. Being unlikeable is not a crime.

I feel that the approach presented here is nuanced enough. It is clearly stated, again and again, that these signs may or may not be associated with people who are sufferring from NPD. There is no causation discussed here. A sign of something is almost always polysemic - you can blush because you are shy or because you like someone or because you have an illness and so on...There is no speculation involved.

I think this is important information. I had a boss who displayed these traits, especially the Predatory Stare. However, I don't think it's fair for you to call out Meghan Markle. She's constantly being scrutinized, so I'm sure it's difficult for her to act naturally when millions of people are watching her. Plus, she is an actor. Not out of the realm of possibility that she is a narcissist, but also she could just be someone who developed her "look" for her career. We also don't know exactly how the royal family has treated her. She may be feeling very defensive. It seems unprofessional to call her out like you did. Minimizing own wrongdoings "but everyone did it", "we brought infrastructure" (yes to facilitate the removal of resources); 4. Public relations program is excellent "we ended slavery" (meanwhile indentured labor continued, same thing basically, and he working class of England paid compensation to the rich class for their loss of human property.
