Hello from America! I have started trying to learn Swedish because I have a dream of cruising a small boat in Sweden and Finland one summer. Have a good time at the boat show. I am sure enjoying watching your boat come to life. Tack så mycket.

Why is there so little interest in building small boats in Sweden? If I look up the Polish-designed 5.80m Class Globe 580, there are currently 235 DIY builders of this little marvel aiming to cross the Atlantic or even circumnavigate the globe. Twelve boats are in the trade winds now, crossing the Atlantic to Antiqua. You will inspire the Nordic countries to be more involved. Cheers.

Can you flare the ends of the pipe using a plumbers tool?

I’ve got to say I don’t like the ideas of running rope through a length of tight fitting pipe. Steering is important. There is a lot of potential for the rope to jam whether through swelling or twisting or fraying or grit getting in there. Why don’t you use grommets or even a couple of grommets lined up to prevent water getting through?
