Oh,... this is SO useful. I have done all of these methods as a pianist and a wind player. My H.S. piano teacher, Mrs. Marion Libby (amazing in every way) taught me to do "boogie rhythms". Check it out: "daaaahm -dee, daaaah-dee, daaaahm-dee, daaaahm-dee" and "dee-daaaahm, dee-daaaahm, dee-daaaahm, dee-daaaahm" Further explained: Taking straight 1/8 notes (semi-quavers), play them as triplet patterns - tied quarter followed by eighth (remember, in a jazz/shuffle/triplet pattern - swing, boogie). And vice-versa - eighth followed by tied quarter. It does wonders for evenness of rhythm. TRY IT!!!

Well, I learned a lot-and I don’t even play a guitar. I shoot pool, and in both cases fundamentals and practice are what gets you there. Going through these exercises slowly and carefully shows the new students how to get started correctly. Then you did those brilliant little musical runs-that shows them what’s possible. You’re a good teacher, and I wouldn’t be surprised to hear from some of your students in the near future.

When I studied (classical) guitar in the early 90s we talked a lot about Yepes and his 3-finger runs, but I never got around practising them. Perhaps now is the time? Thank you for the exercises!

I'm pretty new here ... and already a fan of Grisha! I sure love Paco's music (among many other gypsy musicians!!!) and Grisha plays his music swell - no doubt -, so what I'm wondering is what will Grisha compose when he'll be ready to rise out of his masters. Paco was nicknamed "God" by some (if not many...) so, Grisha won't equal God, but as other angels (such as Vicente Amigo maybe?) he has the stuff to ravel us I say. So : go on Grisha ! I cannot thank you enough for all of your tutorials particularly this one. I have been using the 3 finger technique for years playing through 3 note/string 6 string scales ascending and descending. I first developed the technique playing triplet scales to which it is naturally suited. Then, using exercises similar to those you demonstrate, I developed 4 feel phrasing which is more challenging particularly changing strings but attainable. As you explain, this method permits greatly increased speed. I integrate with standard 2 finger picado and find it also reduces fatigue. I have wondered why this is not taught more universally. You said you only use it on one song. Why not more? Is it to stay true to the original repertoire? What about it’s use when improvising? I feel guilty requesting your time to answer as I so greatly appreciate the generosity of such a supreme master as yourself providing these incredibly helpful tutorials. Can’t wait to support you when touring returns. Stay healthy.

Thanks for your calm, very advanced lesson. A hobbyist, struggling with learning tremolo while trying to also preserve the right carpal tunnel, I find your remark at 2:24 heartening: "Each individual finger does not move that fast". Watching you I'd disagree, the idea still is encouraging though.

Wonderful lesson, thank you, I struggle a lot since last year to develop the 3 fingers style run on the scales, arpeggios, to integrate this technique more and more but I have seen the problem with the accent which appears when you play ...
