$75K+ for an electric ride $2.5K for an 8 year/80K mile extended warranty for an electric ride. Price range for EV battery replacement: $10 to $20K+ (That subject isn't usually brought up unless you asked about it when they're hammering away on trying to get you sold on the insane torque and drag strip performance). Personally, I would not be interested in EVs. However, should the situation ever change, then my first question with respect to that extended warranty would be, "Does either the regular warranty or the extended one cover the cost of a replacement battery?" My guess would be no in either case because batteries were always treated as consumables to be paid for and replaced by the owner(s) whenever it was required. IDK. Perhaps, some folks just have to learn the hard lessons in life when not thinking things totally through before they decide to go ahead and pull the trigger on such a cash cow.

WOW. My Mom, who passed on last year, had bought a 2015 Focus. That thing needed to have the trans rebuilt basically every oil change. My parents had that car for quite a while before trading it in. They never had an option to get a replacement car. Probably had the trans in and out 15 times. And other weird problems arose. It ended up needing a new power steering rack. I have 40 year old mustangs that are more reliable than some of this new stuff and I drive them harder than the new stuff. I bought a 2011 STX 4x4 with the V6 for my teenage son about 2 years ago. I was hoping the v6 (non-ecoboost) would get better gas mileage, but it doesn't. It's been a good truck so far, but I've got some rust on a fender and in the bed I have to deal with. I'm having a hard time finding a body shop that can do anything to help me with the rust, it's too expensive to replace the bed. I think I might just line-x over the rust and forget about it.

My 2002 F150 4.6 V8 4x4 which I've had since new is still going strong at 450,000 kilometers (250,000 miles approx.) has never had any engine work I credit the use of SAE 5W-20 full synthetic oil. The first half of its life was spent towing 4,000 lb. every day. Eventually had to replace the transmission and rear end but those are the only major repairs in twenty years. Oh, and an alternator, A/C compressor and fuel pump. Other than those items, just regular brake repairs and tires. Would highly recommend Ford F150.

2009 Mustang auto, 218k on it. Recall for airbag and had to replace thermostat housing (design flaw which was covered under a warranty). Three brake jobs, three sets of spark plugs (E3). KN air intake. That's it, other than oil changes and tires and oh yeah, changed battery three times over its life. Runs like a dream still, power galore, comfortable as heck. I don't think I could buy a Mustang of this quality new today. One of the best cars I have ever owned, and that's saying something. I hope to have it for the rest of my life, for reals.

@garymcmullin2292 2 жыл бұрын
Regarding the f-150, the spark issue was addressed in mid season 2008. There were actually two distinct problems, first the plug ports in the head had too few threads and plugs ejected on their own. Second issue was plugs of two piece design with a head deesign that was horrible, allowed the spark plug to get seized up in the hole and then they would break off because of the weak two piece design.Your advice on oil is spot on correct, the 5-30 does much better and oil change intervals of 3500 miles will go a long way to assure a trouble free engine, there is ample testimony on line that supports the advantages of low mileage oil change even if you use synthetics. The thing with the 3 valve is that a CLEAN oiling system is absolutely essential, engine service must be spot on timely. This engine does have weakness in the components of the variable valve timing system and sometimes even with good maintenance they come undone because timing chain tensioner gaskets blow out and the top of the engine starves for oil. The oil pumps are known to have a flexing backplate that causes oil pressure loss at higher RPM. Aside from these issues the bulk of breakdown causes comes from lack of maintenance....meticulous maintenance!

I bought the car with 39.4k miles on it. I've really started to get into the habit of driving it aggressively and it works a lot better. the thing with electric cars, you have to drive it casually in order to get better range, and don't exceed 65MPH when your traveling even though speed limit are 75 or 80MPH because the range will go down, and if the weather is nice and cool, turn the AC off and open up the intake vent, the range will get better, and when you approach the stop signs or red light, coast your car earlier, the generator will kick in and charge your battery a little, and light braking for you. if you buy a electric car, get a single motor not the dual motor.

The dealership would have to replace the seals and clutches and then reprogram transmission to shift correctly. We missed out on the recall by a couple of months and were quoted $1600 to do the work at the dealership. Other than that, it was an outstanding car. Great mileage, huge torque and sports car like handling. I'd buy the ST model in a heartbeat with the manual transmission.

I had a 1979 Toyota Corrolla. I'd give anything if they still made those, exactly like they made them back then. Speaking of braking, slow the Hell down before you get to your stop so you aren't putting so much friction all at once on your "breaking" system. Also, it is my understanding ethanol has a lot of water in it that messes up your fuel system, especially if it sits unused. Am I wrong? For the Focus, if you get a manaul they can be fine. The "automated dual clutch" manuals they used didn't work very well and many of them needed new transmissions or clutches after a while. But the manual transmissions were fine. I guess I'm glad when I traded mine in I only lost maybe $2,000 on it (since it was traded when it was only 2 years old). I later got something in the mail from Ford and didn't qualify for their reimbrusement because mine never got fixed. I traded it before it needed fixing, but the dealer I traded it to (whom I've deal with since) said that it had to have its clutches replaced about 3 years later but still apparently fell under warranty. Either way, I wouldn't have wanted to deal with that. So Ipaid $18k for mine, got about $16k for trade in on a Silverado pick up (which was probably another mistake but at least that truck made it to 180k and 7 years before I sold that off for a Camry in 2020).

I thought the price a little high because it's a Dodge, but the car was mint with 10,000 miles on it and was 28 thousand new. And it was AWD and I live in the Buffalo region. It was a very good deal. In the two years I owned it, I fell in love with that car so much, I traded it in on a brand new one in 2018 I ordered from the factory with everything in it. (different dealer) I take good care of my cars. Very good care of my cars and my all White 2015 Dodge Charger, that sat outside, was so sharp it glowed; they gave me 18 grand for the trade. Even higher than the maximum phone quote, really. The head of the dept came out and said "I want to see if it drives as good as it looks.: When he got back he said "Wow, do you really take good care of your car." The other dealer said "You should see his Jeep." I drove that car for two years for free and never had one problem with it. This was before the used car price spikes. How many people can say that about a used car? They didn't even wash it and put it in their showroom (a used car in their New car showroom) and didn't even dust it. It was gone in three days. They even called me on the phone when it sold. He told me it had crowds around it. LOL I had Mopar customize the new one before I got it and when it came in, in "Go Mango," it was so sharp they didn't want to give it to me. Today it's supercharged. LOL You should see my 2011 Jeep Liberty Woody. Another one I bought new and had it completely customized. Right down to the wood grain sides and the surf board.

Wow, very rare you hear this with a Mopar (or a few of them!) good on ya for taking care of your vehicles! I have a good friend who has three jeep cherokees - 2005, 2007, and 2008 - he drives one, his wife drives one and his oldest son drives the third - they have everywhere from 215k-320k miles on them! Only issues recently was his wife wrecked one of them :(. Ended up getting a 2021 grand Cherokee and it drives nice but he can’t stand all the nonsense in it - already been to our mechanic (we use the same guy when we can’t do the work ourselves) it shows most vehicles will last and last with taking care of them! Some need more love than others, but it’s a thing!

Scotty is absolutely right about these ford's but I am a very happy Ford owner cuz I got a great 2012 Fusion 2.5L it's got a big powerful four banger and the reason it's so great is cuz it's the last of a generation meaning NO GDI, NO CVT tranny or those dual clutch auto crap tranny's just a good old fashioned six speed auto with a dipstick, everything is simpler and it runs like a dream cuz I maintain the hell out of it! The only thing is when I got it I had to get used to the aggressive deceleration fuel cutoff system that shuts off the fuel aggressively when I take my foot off the gas that feels like a very light braking feeling but at least it doesn't feel like those regenerative brakes on the electric or hybrid vehicles like Scotty was mentioning I don't think I could ever get used to the way that feels lol

@@Buddycoop1 Yeah and they handle great even from the factory of course I have an upgraded touring suspension system with KYB Gas-A-Just shocks and struts, progressive rate springs, upgraded front and rear sway bars and strut tower bar, complete polyurethane bushings all throughout, and the widest tires I can fit in the factory wheels 235/60/R16's so it handles like a slot car on country roads but even stock it handled great!

The Vaseline jar and reference to Maserati tune-up reminded me of a Firestone store that charged me $2500 to change eight spark plugs on an old F150. I was in process of moving and needed it right then.

Hey Scotty. On the 2010 Ford Platinum, what would be an acceptable milage and price? Also, you had a video on avoiding turbo trucks. Would the Platinum be an exception?
