Thanks for sharing these helpful tools! I have a few questions, 1) when I use job scan to compare my resume and job description, results of job scan run always highlight missing key words for soft skills, such as communication skills, inter-personal skills, written communication skills, leaderships. These missing key words affect the score of the resume, any advice to address them in the resume? 2) under professional experience section, if the job description list out 10+ job responsibilities, should these all be addressed in the achievement area or still stay with 8 biggies for achievement? If there are similar achievement in different jobs, whether they should be highlighted in different jobs.
@andylacivita6 жыл бұрын
Iris, I would suggest trying to get the words in the resume somewhere! I would also address as many of the responsibilities as you can to try to get it in alignment. Of course, you know the 8 biggies that make for the best stories, but there's nothing wrong with massaging the resume a bit!

What to put your resume if you have worked for the same company but in different locations?
@andylacivita6 жыл бұрын
Great question Jasmine. You can make the company on your resume ONE section. If you worked in different locations, there are a number of ways to handle it. If you kept the same title, but worked at different locations, you can place the locations at the top near the company name. If you changed locations and changed titles, put the location change next to the title change!

Should I present volunteer experience as part of professional experience? Thanks Andy!

Thanks for the tips Andy. I do have a question. My current job title is quite fancy and does not convey what I do. I feel like my only option is the plug the role that I'm applying for in my resume in "invisible ink" in order to beat ATS. Is this risky move (as I have heard that I could get blacklisted from companies)?

Hey Andy, I've been watching your videos and they have been very helpful - so thank you! Quick question - what is the goal percentage to try and achieve from JobScan that would suggest the resume is more likely to pass ATS?
@andylacivita5 жыл бұрын
Lauren, awesome question. 80 is sweet. Higher is of course better. HOWEVER HOWEVER HOWEVER (yes. 3 howevers in caps). Please do not stress about this. Do your best and go. Jobscan is a nice tool, but it's not the demi-god of all things ATS. Check it. Update the obvious and go!
@Pierluigi-ns4ms3 жыл бұрын
@@andylacivita Did you try to achieve to %80? Cmon, you should almost copy paste the job description for it. Jobscan offers lots of weird words to include in your resume; you will not be able to fit most of those words in your Resume...I know that you do not insist on reaching to %80, but even %60 is so hard and your Resume starts to be really fake&creepy

Andrew: I am very disappointed. You are advertising for JOBSCAN, under the guise of offering "FREE ADVICE". if that is not the case, you would just say an "applicant tracking system" instead of using the name JOBSCAN to highlight their features. In you mind, you might think "Well, everyone does it - but many even say "This is sponsored by ABC" - when they do that we know that we need to take this video with a pinch of salt.
@andylacivita4 жыл бұрын
Appreciate your insight. I’ll respond once to this. I just gave you a ton of free stuff if you watch what I referred you to. Jobscan is free. You can try a number of attempts and you can use it to hone your resume. You do not need to buy it. And, as someone who gives more of my time for free to this entire world than anyone else I can find (I was literally available to the public LAST WEEK for 10 actual hours of FREE coaching) you can either be disappointed or grateful. I’ll let you choose.
