Nice shots! - I made a kite mount that wraps around the center strut. For this purpose, I disassembled the head strap mount and use only the short strap.

For the best kite line mounted shots I use the Insta 360 One R 360 mod with mentese labs mount. The insta has 6 axis stabilisation so the horizon stays level. The K4 harness mount with 90cm selfy stick is awesome, like having a drone right behind you. Grill mouth mount for the go pro. I normally ride with the insta in the kite lines, go pro on mouth mount. Get some sweet shots 👌🏄

Best mount for kiting/foiling is the mouth mount with camera on vertical covering both kite and board. Great for instagram stories

I'm a big fan of the board mount (tilted up at you) and the strut mount. I find both of those to be less obtrusive and worry-free! I do think the line mount probably gets the coolest shots... But I had issues with mine getting tangled.

The board mount is pretty good, but there’s only so many shots you can get with it. Also wouldn’t say it was worry-free at first - I was always paranoid I’d look down and it would be gone 😄 the strut mount is also a good one! We also had the tangling issue with previous line mounts, but not with the one we use now

@@OurKiteLife Yeah very true, board mount is not very versatile. I actually lost my gopro once or twice off the board. But luckily the orange floaty allowed me to find it. After the second time I added an extra stick on tether mount to the board which was great as a back up!

Hey Tony, we have tried it several times - GoPro Fusion. While the footage can be amazing, the downside is increased workload of stitching, framing, converting to proper formats suitable for Magic Vegas, oh and it also makes our computer crash a lot. Maybe we will try GoPro Max one day - they say workload is much less with it.

Max is amazing, converting 360 into regular 16:9 video is extremely intuitive and easy, you just do it on your phone based on a lower quality copy of the original video. What kind of mount would be best for a 360 camera? Line?

Nice video, I'll have to try that dome out some day! Unfortunately, I don't have anyone to film so I'm using the mouth mount most of the time. I've seen some nice shots with the GoPro Swivel Head Mount but I haven't seen that one used a lot in kiteboarding. Maybe you could experiment with that one? Greetings from The Netherlands!

I've got a mouth mount and I hate it, never use my gopro while kiting because of it, I think a helmet mount would produce overall better shots. Great video though!

Very helpful. Just curious, ever try a wrist mount? What about board mounts? The board mound can create some interesting shots especially for big jumps.

Haven’t tried the wrist mount yet. We have a board mount but rarely use it - generally it is just a butt shot. That being said it could be fun to try and capture different angles for jumps! Might have to give it a shot :)

Great vid! A tip; If you want to Have water droplets on your lens, you can use some old fashioned spit. Before taking a shot, spit on your lens, lick it and then dip it in the water. It works 100% !

hi great video and very useful indeed as I am planning add a gopro to my kite sessions. How does it feel to fly the kite with line mount and cam on it? any differences compared to flying without? thanks!

You can feel that it’s there but the kite flies the same. Depending on the type of line mount, you may notice it when doing rotations, as sometimes a line may get caught on the mount

Hi ive jsut boaught this very line mount and its great, can i ask if you use horzontal lock to keep the fottage stable. Im using it on the click bar and seems to spin around a lot making the footage unusable. Only tried it once, anyhelp getting the correct setting for the next session would be greatly appreciated. I'm using cheap "Rollei" cams right now and my biggest problem is condense in the cases after a while does the Gopro have that problem to? Great video, as always...

Yeah condensation is pretty big problem with the dome especially! Cold water helps

Thanks! We don’t have a video on how to set up the line mount - the one we use (kitelinemount.com) is pretty self explanatory - there are 4 pieces you remove from the mount to attach to the lines (the mount indicates which lines) and then slide back in to lock in place.

TY, which mount do all the kitesurfers use when you see a video go from POV to pointing the camera to there own face and saying something and putting it back to POV etc. mostly after doing a trick, and are these quick releases maybe like from peak design ?

Sounds like a mouth mount. They provide great POV and are pretty stable, and you can easily grab the camera for a selfie/talking shot

Hello,love the video. Just a few things I wanted to be sure on concerning the linemount. 1)Would this mount fit the lines on Peak 4s. 2)The mount seems alot further up(nearer to the kite)on your vids and George's vids than what he recommended in the set up video. 3)The way he set up the safety on his video would surely lose the camera if the screw backed off and fell out. Your answers will pretty much determine if I'll make a purchase.Right now I'm ready to gey,thanks .

#1 I believe peak 4 has a connect bar, which has high Y, so I would not feel comfortable mounting it there. you can probably get away with it, but we had issues with line mounts with infinity bar. We only mount line mount with force bar. #2 We set up the mount about a meter, meter and a half away from the top of the kite bar. Never had an issue. #3 The screws with the mount we use, has an hex key, doubt it would fall out. Also with the mount we use, the safety line goes to the specific side of the mount, so the safety line is loose. On the other side the line mount is attached to the power line with a special lock mechanism.

Have you tried to mount the gopro on the kite. For example at the middle of a tube kite. I think the video could be really nice🤔

I'm struggling with condensation on my dome. it seems to stem from the heat of the gopro vs the coldness of the water. Do you do anything with yours to help with this?

We also experience that and haven't found a good working solution. Usually we just quickly get the shots we need before there's too much condensation.

Now there's a science problem! Dry ice? Or maybe even a wet ice cube would pull some of the moisture onto its surface - if there's room inside the dome for it. Calls for experimentation.

We use professional grade video editing software (Magic Vegas) for all of our footage - including Go Pro videos - and export with high quality settings

Some kiters like the helmet mount. A friend of ours had one and after a bail the lines got stuck around the mount, which was a scary moment for him. Luckily he was ok but I’d be hesitant about using one after hearing about his experience!

(later comment: via pause I see the cable I hadn't even noticed! :-) Good sound quality! I bought a decent digital recorder, but so far have only used it for narration added later.

For the mouth, try using the Pro Standart Grill Mount (www.prostandard.com) . Teeth don't get tired of it. For lines, it's best to use a GoPro Max. But there is no mount for the GoPro Max, so you need to 3D print it. Like this instagram.com/p/CDuXJQjhinW/?

Honestly just haven’t tried it. We wear a helmet for foilboarding (sometimes - we know we should wear it all the time), but not for twin tipping

Helmet mount produces some good shots - especially for taking videos of your friends kiting in front or beside you. Harness mount is another type that's interesting: The GoPro is mounted at the end of a 3-4 feet pool that's attached to the harness. This makes for some great videos as if a drone was following you a few feet away. There are some good Windsurfing KZbin videos that are using both types of mounts with success (Search KZbin with "The Cheapest Drone Shot EVER! - Explained". Instead of a regular GoPro, this guy uses a 360 camera (Like the Insta360 One). POV videos then become very immersive. I'm not sure if Kiteboarding and kite lines might be an issue with this kind of mount but it's probably worth a look. BTW, great content on your channel!
