Zoe, I have a question! If you want to be a fashion illustrator, and sell prints of other people's designs, is that copyright? Like I'm not selling the design, but technically I'm profiting from it, so would that be an issue? Say I drew a picture of something I saw on a runway and sold the prints of it, do companies and designers have beef with that?

Would you please consider offering some kind of notes/printed material that you could email to those who have paid for your class. I WILL be taking notes, but it's easy to miss details sometimes. Thank you Zoe, for inviting Belu Chi to demonstrate these seams. Belu Chi thank you for describing and demonstrating, with such clarity, the various seams. Also, I cannot express the gratitude that I felt when you were describing how to manage the fabric while sewing. I have had those very same issues while using the rolled hem foot. Much continued success in your endeavor to codify seams, in a universal manner, by writing your book: "101 Sewing Seams"! Zoe, again, a special thanks to you for continuing to share your experience and knowledge by presenting and sharing your "world" with us, the KZbin viewer! I am very grateful!

Thank you Zoe for sharing! I’ve been sewing about 55 yrs with not formal training. When you said 3 advance seams I first got scared then I said, “Vern, no one is going to grade you. What do you have to lose?” I am black and I live in Washington DC. I learned to sew because I want shopping with my mother every week at places like Sak 5th Avenue and Lord & Talyor. The year I started high is the same year the high school trade schools closed. So my class was Sak and Lord & Talyor. I thought I was doing the first 2 seam wrong. They weren’t wrong. It just that one technique is for one situation and another for another situation. WoW!!! I learned sooooooo much!

I can not believe it but ABC 101 seams book arrived at my home this morning. Have been going through it for most of the day. I NEVER comment on anyone's video. I would absolutely subscribe if Belu had her own channel. Zoe, I LOVE your instruction and style of teaching! The content is excellent and is helping me take my skills to the next level. I'm a home sewist (not sure that is a term), my kids are almost all grown up and I want to and have time to get serious about my sewing. People have seen creations I've made for my kids and ask me if I would sew for them or have product for sale. I haven't had the confidence in my work to really put myself out there. I'm learning a lot and also see that I know more than I thought. I love sewing and creating! This journey is exciting and a little scary, but I love it!

Thanks you for the wonderful tips. I have seen the Hong Kong stitch applied in other techniques. When I was in college for fashion and textiles, we were taught to ad the bias to the end of each piece, then sew the seam and press it open, without sewing the seam edge and binding to the garment. I think this was more for very tailored items. For example, we had a serger, but we were first taught the rules of tailoring so as to hide and/or minimize the visibility of any seam. This was 20 years ago, but I have always thought that it gives a garment a more high end look. Thanks again for the tutorial. After many years of sewing, I have forgotten about some of these stitches as. Simply because I have not been sewing clothing so much over time.its easy to forget. And the rolled hem stitch I don’t recall ever practicing, so I am glad to see a how to.

Hi Beatnik. Yes, you're right. The Hong Kong seam without topstitch on the right side is for tailored garments. It's a very clean finishing, mainly used on lightweight and medium weight fabrics. I love that option too. I'm glad you discover the roll hem :) Thank you! Belu

I could happily watch Belu sew ALL the seams. This was excellent, thank you Zoe! This is perfect timing as I’ve been experimenting using rayon seam tape for bound hems (vintage “Snug Hug”) that comes in beautiful colors and is soft, smooth and not bulky. It’s not folded, it’s like ribbon. I found a 3yd vintage notion package of single fold rayon seam binding but unfortunately can’t find any modern-it is much smoother and less stiff than the modern poly satin tapes. Just having fun, not for business. Love your channel!

That was nice and clear. Fun to watch. I am learning, and I think I could make a good showing of it with her tutorial it was so well explained. Thank you both for this.

I love your video! I'm a short course dressmaking student. But since the pandemic happened, we had to stop classes. I use KZbin as my online school program. Your videos keep me company. Also, I don't have a serger at home so your videos are super helpful. Thanks! Keep it up 💕

This was fun to watch. I usually use two of the seams, rolled and bound hem and other variations of them using a regular presserfoot.

An excellent instruction on the process. I can do them. But doing them well is another thing! Thanks for the top tips. Can we have more of this type …. Top tips to do professional finishes better? For eg holding the fabric at an angle through rolled hem foot whilst giving sideways pressure with other hand. And looking at stitch lines not the pressure foot or needle when sewing. It’s these things that make a difference ❣️

I really enjoyed that thank you. I don't really sew much any more , I certainly don't sew clothes ,but I have a fascination for it. I've never heard of a hong Kong seam, that one is really neat . Tfs
