Something interesting was pointed out in the comments section of a Trenton and Heath shoe care video I was watching. One gentleman pointed out that when you buy a cheap cotton t-shirt, or a pair of blue jeans, there is a tag inside was care instructions. However, if you pay $300 - $1,000 for a pair of beautiful shoes or boots, rarely will you find so much as a slip of paper in the box, telling you how to care for your fine leather goods! This must change! You and Sonya have the ears of many in the business. Perhaps a word to a few of them could make a difference! ✨ Stay safe and healthy, and please pray for the USA! Great video Hugo! I recently purchased a pair of suede loafers from TLB Mallorca (from the ARTISTA line) and was quite impressed. Strange question I have been pondering.. Would you rather have a French tailor (ex Cifonelli) cut a Neapolitan spalla camicia shoulder on an otherwise french jacket OR a Neapolitan tailor (ex Ciardi) cut a cran parisien on a Neapolitan jacket? Isolation has caused me to contemplate such crazy ideas like this :)
@SARTORIALTALKS4 жыл бұрын
Dear Rory, I agree with you concerning TLB, exceptional quality and value. Concerning your question, although I know Cifonelli can craft any kind of shoulders, it would be highly counter-intuitive for their team to attach a sloppy shoulder on a Cifonelli garment. Same for the Ciardis who rarely use padding... The shoulder is the most critical part though. A notch is easy to perform in comparison. Cheers, Hugo

I love Sartorial Talks and I am a dress shoe addict. Do you have any reference about Fratelli Rossetti from Italy? And what about Ferragamo shoes? Worth the high price? You should take a close look on Brazilian shoemakers, they couldn't be at the same bar as many from Europe, but shoes are made from high quality leather and prices below €100, a real bargain. Congratulations for your superb work. Regards from Brazil.

Hello Carlos. Fratelli Rossetti and Ferragamo are both way overpriced in my opinion. I've bought a few pairs from CNES now, and while you get a lot of value for the money (solely based on the features, not so much the make), somehow they are incredibly difficult to break in. I've sent them for stretching service, used the hair dryer myself, wear it on and off for months now. They are still as painful to wear as the first day. On the other hand my TLB oxfords are almost as comfortable as my Crocs now after just 2 months of wear.

@Mercurio20126 ай бұрын

Carlos Santos and Carmina are excellent shoemakers, but IMO I think TLB is a slight notch above in terms of quality and precision of the construction and the finishing. Great to learn about these shoe brands. Thank you Hugo. Would be amazing to see a film documentary made by you re your book topics.. European suit/shoe ateliers... also, would be great to see a video on your casual wardrobe. Cheers, Grant

Question, why most of the people into sartorial, don't put sole guards on heir shoes? Excuse the probable naive question.

Talking about not too costly shoes, how would CNES compare to Meermin ? Especially in terms of Quality Price Ratio, as Meermin seems in a similar price range, altough a little bit more expensive.

Great video, love the last shoe. I have a question for you Mr. Hugo, what do you wear at home on a day you are just indoors with not much to do? Also, which off the rack polo shirts do you recommend? Keep up the great work, and wishing you and Sonya well.

Dear friend, unfortunately I never have "not much to do" as our planning is always very intense with our KZbin productions, our books to write, our blog to take care of (with a new version very soon online) and hundreds of other things to do. However I often wear a beautiful shirt with a nice pair of bespoke trousers and loafers in the summer. Hugo

@@SARTORIALTALKS Great response. I should have asked my question better, i meant to ask what you wear on a day where you are not in front of a camera/out in public but yes that answers my question. Stay safe

Blue PP Oxford shirt, striped tie and wide lapel double breasted suit. British-American versus French continental style--interesting!

TLB are phenomenal quality for the price. I have a pair that are easily 2-3 steps above my Allen Edmonds in quality for about the same price and also a step above my Cobbler Union for finishing quality (and lower price). I was hopeful for a step up in quality when I purchased a pair of CU, but was disappointed as my TLB are better and less expensive.
