Something interesting was pointed out in the comments section of a Trenton and Heath shoe care video I was watching. One gentleman pointed out that when you buy a cheap cotton t-shirt, or a pair of blue jeans, there is a tag inside was care instructions. However, if you pay $300 - $1,000 for a pair of beautiful shoes or boots, rarely will you find so much as a slip of paper in the box, telling you how to care for your fine leather goods! I've bought a few pairs from CNES now, and while you get a lot of value for the money (solely based on the features, not so much the make), somehow they are incredibly difficult to break in. I've sent them for stretching service, used the hair dryer myself, wear it on and off for months now. They are still as painful to wear as the first day. On the other hand my TLB oxfords are almost as comfortable as my Crocs now after just 2 months of wear.

TLB are phenomenal quality for the price. I have a pair that are easily 2-3 steps above my Allen Edmonds in quality for about the same price and also a step above my Cobbler Union for finishing quality (and lower price). I was hopeful for a step up in quality when I purchased a pair of CU, but was disappointed as my TLB are better and less expensive.

The online shoe shopping industry will never really flourish until technology is able to find some sort of a way to solve the sizing issue

I disagree with you my friend. The main problem is always the first pair (same for a jacket or a shirt), but as soon as you know your size with a shoemaker, you'll be fine. The most important is to order directly to real shoemakers (not dept stores who are just resellers), discuss the size with them and make sure their return/exchange policy is flawless. Not that difficult in fact. Best ! Hugo

Great video as always Hugo. I own a pair of Gatsbys from Septieme Largeur. Mine are, what they call Chocolate Brown with a traditional leather sole. Also, I wanted to thank you for complimenting my MTO TLB Mallorca shoes on their Instagram page. They were the two tone Bleuchers in two tone Brown and Medium Brown Museum Calf. you should try to discover Indonesian shoe brands such as Vahtia and Winson. Both have quality shoes. well, there are plenty of Indonesian shoemakers but they mostly do work/service boots, as for dress shoes, Winson and Vahtia own the dress shoes market, though Vahtia is relatively new, they use mostly leather from well-known Tannery like Du Puy and Annonay. and they use hand welted construction.

I can suggest Archibald London. They make handwelted shoes for the same price as the 'Artista' line of TLB Mallorca. Also Yeossal shoes from Singapore their handwelted line may be the best quality ratio for a handwelted shoe in the world. And i will add Andrès Sendra shoes from Spain Goodyear welted with some beautiful patina and very good quality and finish.

There is also TLB, Lottusse (I did a show on this brand who only ships to Europe), Weston, Carmina, Angela Scott, and other online made to order options crafting in Spain who are positioned as making men's shoes but take orders from women. They are produced by makers and ateliers we are often featuring (under their own names and at a much more affordable price). Yeossal is offering nice shoes (they are a global store though not strictly a shoemaker). The price for their handwelted line is indeed very competitive (798 SGP$, that is 510 euros + Tax + Shipping = probably around 750 euros). It is a good option, but it depends where you live. Best ! Hugo

thanks for another great video! and thank you for doing videos about watches and other topics they are all great. One of the most difficult things for me is to find really wide shoes on RTW, apart from some models from Allen Edmonds, 2-3 models from UK brands, and 1 last from carmina that is all that that there is for wide shoes in the entire industry (I am AE 11.5 EEE (US), the G fit from loake/herring is too tight for me so I use 11 H (UK). I wish more brands would make RTW wide shoes for the ones who dont have the budget for bespoke.
