Mat your KZbin lessons are the best, no doubt about it, I've played for 30 years with no lessons and I'm ok with my ability on the course, looked at loads of instructions on the tube, yours is the best all day mate. Thanks.

I love watching Rick and Peter yet for actual tips I can use, Matt is the best for training and coaching. My glove wear is spot n to Matt's comparison for a weak left-hand position. My irons are very good yet I tend to fade my driver and fairway wood. My miss is a slice. This video tip helped immensely.

I'm exactly the same with my swing, I agree with your comments. Matt produces some very good videos.

Matt Fryer ... your videos are by far the most practical, informative and relatable lessons I have seen on KZbin. You've completely evolved the way I play golf and approach every shot. I try and play golf now instead of just trying to hit a golf ball with a club. As much as I love Rick, Pete and many others, you deserve the credit as it's always your videos that I remember when I practice. Brilliant effort with these lessons and all your content. Would love to see more videos of you playing and not in "coach mode". Start a comp between KZbin Golfers. Must have a channel to enter. Just an idea. Anyway, just wanted to thank you and say you are greatly appreciated. Shame people watching keep forgetting to like but I'd bet lots of views are people watching more than once. Worth remembering with KZbin. 14 numpties clearly hit the wrong button too. Thumbs down to them

Yo Matt, greetings from Ivory Coast in West Africa. You are the man, this 10mn video help me understand my mistakes; I realized that I was always using a weak grip (slicing every time), and handling the club with a lot of pressure, that's the reason I couldn't hit the ball right. I will head this afternoon to the practice and I am sure this is a game-changer and the only lesson that I need. Thanks a lot! Romi

These small overlooked tips has helped me so much, last one with driver ana moving your weight the correct way to fix a slice made me be able to hit my driver after a 3 month slump again. Tried everything else before that. And this is tried 1 time it clicked and now im condfidently hiting 290-300 bombs with water or OB to my right without worrying i will overcook the fade to a slice.

Btw im 100% this grip thing will work wonders because i had some periods where i tear exactly where you drew the circel. And those periods i been hiting my irons worse without knowing theres been a suddle grip change that probably cuased it. Now i can work on the right thing.

Noticed yesterday that my grip when using the driver was quite different from the other clubs. No idea what was going on but when I fixed it, BOOM! The basics of golf are so important and I love you cover them in your vlogs. Cheers

Thank you so much for your tips, best tips I've seen on KZbin, I've gone from shooting 112- 110 to shooting 88-89 consistently now and I'm loving my game. My favourite tip was turning par 4's into par 5's and so on , since I've been doing that the odd 2 to 3 par's actually happen so thank you keep the excellent tips coming 👍

Matt….you have changed my 40 yr old too strong palmy grip in 10 min….no coach has ever given more than a cursory glance at my grip….I’ve got work to do! Thanks

Thanks Matt, I needed this lesson. It was pointed out to me by one of our three pro's at my club that my grip was in the palm. So I was working on this a month ago. My grip is now right, and I hit it straight, but losing distance. I have been trying not to hold too tight but ended up with a blister on the index finger of the gloved hand. My original grip was weak with some serious swaz or slice on it. I miss words like that lol I haven't lived in Altricham or Hale since 1990. I will have to work on my grip again. I am struggling getting a wiggle on, so still holding too tight i think. Thanks again.

Can’t wait to put this into my game. One thing I always do is freeze up over the ball and start my backswing all rigid.

As someone who has the wear pattern that Matt is discussing, I'm glad that it works for other people, but I cannot watch videos or look at documentation online about grip. I Can't understand it and the visuals aren't very clear to me. My swing works and I don't drop the club.
@sfink163 жыл бұрын
Good explanation! I'm definitely an odd one when it comes to grip. First, I don't use a glove. Second, I use the ten finger/baseball grip. Third, my lead hand (left hand) V points to my left shoulder and trail hand (right hand) points to my right shoulder. That said, my ball flight is straight most of the time, probably because of my short backswing. I hit the ball plenty far enough for an amateur most of the time. I tried the interlocking grip and hated it, plus I started to get pain in my interlocking pinkys, probably arthritis. I went back to ten finger grip and have no complaints of pain. Of course I was a baseball player first and it just feels more comfortable.

Exactly what I needed ! Started to apply the tips from your Driver Video and it did not work, so I was really frustrated. Then I looked at my grip, adjusted it and started to bomb them 😀

Grip pressure is a constant struggle for me, especially if I am trying to hurry around the course. Have taken to, once I have done my pre shot and lined up and addressed the ball, last thing I do is let out a big relaxing exhale and make sure my hands loosen some, still have yet to throw a club and has done me wonders for not being too rigid in the swing.

nice one matt i got comfortable witha good grip but during a round i started to slip into old grip of left hand slipping underneath a bit which i didn;t feel it going but my shots were going left putting me into trouble IN A MATCH OF ALL THE TIMES WHY A MATCH ?

I'm weak with wedges and strong with irons is this a mistake should I just use one. Great vid 👍
@timchamberlain58583 жыл бұрын
Ernie Els say a weaker grip for wedges is more ideal: "Another contemporary of mine that I learned from was Corey Pavin. He showed me the way to pitch with a weak left hand on the club. On full shots, I like to look down at my grip at address and see 2 ½ to 3 knuckles on my left hand. On delicate greenside shots, I’ll rotate my left hand slightly to the right so that I can only see 1 to 1 ½ knuckles, and set the handle more in my fingers. It allows me to feel like I can hit the ball a lot harder without it carrying too far, and it helps me generate more spin. With this grip and my RTX4 wedges, I can literally feel the ball spinning right off the face. It’s great to know that the ball will react exactly how I pictured the shot."

What are the limitations from a baseball grip? Thanks
@any1younger3 жыл бұрын
Your hands MUST work together - that’s more difficult when separated. For example: Slightly too strong in right hand will cause hook.

It looks like the finger grip is the same as the palm grip once you put your palm on the club. Whats the difference?
@timchamberlain58583 жыл бұрын
I never see anyone talk about how high or low on the club to grip it and what difference that makes. How high up is too high up? What happens when you choke down on the club?
@maxphilpott96773 жыл бұрын
If you got fit, hold your left hand for a right handed golfer at the top, if you have a standard length and you are 5”7’to say 6”0’ grip it full, if you are 5”6’ to 5”3’ grip am inch to half and inch down whatever feels better and if you are over 6”1’ get longer clubs. If you grip down you will swing slower and the ball will go less far, this is rough btw, get fit of possible
@jamiesloan72593 жыл бұрын
Grip is KING my friend. Personally, for ME... I grip it slightly towards the weaker side with my lead hand, and almost put the trail hand directly inline with the club face(basically on the side of the club). I can change my grip slightly, and my alignment if I need some curvature on certain shots. Don't be afraid to experiment with your grip people.

Thanks Matt. This is the very thing I have been working on, especially the first point. I do wear a hole in my gloves. Problem is, I have short fingers, and the grip tend to slide into my palm even though I have good grips. I have mid-size grips because my fingers are a bit arthritic. Any suggestions?
@stephenascottcbc3 жыл бұрын
Within 2 minutes of you saying strong and weak grip isn't about the amount of tightness you hold the grip a lightbulb went off above me. Definitely hope to stop slicing as much after watching this 👌👌
