I've been looking to into 3 gun here in GA and this series was very helpful!

+Chris Parrish Thanks Chris. Atlanta 3-gun at South River Gun Club in Covington has the best matches in the state. Riverbend gun club also has a few. Pinetucky Gun Club in Augusta has 3-gun matches every 2 months.

Awesome! I'm actually familiar with a couple of those, it'll be a bit before I can get rolling though as I'm still putting together an AR.

I got a wild hair up my butt about a week ago and decided that I want to test my skills with 3 gun. Being the type that over researchers everything before he does it, I searched BoobTube for information on the subject and came across your series. Honestly I wasn't overly impressed with the first couple of episodes, not because they were "bad" but because they were aimed at new shooters and to me they seemed to be basically common sense. This episode blew me away! It was VERY informative and answered many questions I had not even thought of asking yet. Your proficiency in loading a shotgun is outstanding and gives me something to practice towards. Can't wait to watch the rest of the series. Thanks for taking the time to make these.

Thanks Jim! Yes, the series is aimed at beginners, but starting with the middle of the series I try to teach topics and points that are helpful to everyone, mostly new to intermediate shooters. I'm glad you liked it and learned something!

+BullittMcQueen Whew, I hope so, I saw this was 4 months ago and was worried. My son seems interested in 3 gun as trap and small bore are starting to get a little old for him.

What length of barrel are you running on your gun?
@vajake19 жыл бұрын
That was really good history and advise. I need to make some 3X5 practice cards with different drills on each. That way I can shuffle the deck and practice all methods randomly. Also have to make up some more dummy shells!
@bullittmcqueen9 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! One of the things I try to do before a match is look at the stage descriptions and practice all of the shotgun loading I will have to do in the match. I think your index card idea is a good one too.
@vajake19 жыл бұрын
I'm just starting so I have not shot a state or regional match yet. Our local matches do not publish the stage discriptions (that I know of) so I can't practice them before hand. I tend to forget and get lazy when I go to the range and practice on my own. I just make up drills on the spot that will "dovetail" with our local range rules. These rules are pretty strict for everyone's safety and benefit. So I'd have to practice at home. Indoors. I wouldn't want the neighbors to call local law enforcement if they see me handling a firearm in my own back yard!

Is there a certain rifle you have to use like 223 or something?
@bullittmcqueen9 жыл бұрын
.223 and 7.62 caliber rifles are ok, some people are now using 9mm rifles as well, but each different caliber has its own division

Hey Mac Frank here again. I am converting to the IP caddie set up. I'm starting with (2) 2.8 caddies. I am right handed and I load weak hand. I notice your caddies are set up in a horizontal configuration on your belt. What's the advantage? I've got mine set up in vertical position with a 15 or 30 deg cant depending on where they are on my belt. Right now I'm dry firing quads and the leaning curve is steep, very frustrating.
@bullittmcqueen9 жыл бұрын
It's a natural hand position. Hold your reloading hand up and then reach down and grab your belt naturally. More than likely you'll find having the shells horizontal makes them fit in your hands natural position. At least for me anyways

Mac, with your heavy shotgun background, will you briefly touch on shotgun shells (shot sizes, slugs, brands) and why you use what you use? Also maybe a little on the chokes choices? Keep up the great work! -Chris

Hi Mac, great video! Where can I buy the correct dummy shells for practicing? I see them, in several locations online but, none of the descriptions mention if they're weighted to match the real item. Just that they have a plastic plug inside. I guess my question would be, what are some actual brand names? Thanks! Jason
@bullittmcqueen8 жыл бұрын
+Jason157E I think brownells has them. Mine are Fiocchi but I think they may have been discontinued.

Nice vid. I've been following your vids ever since you made the Mossberg 930 turkey gun into a 3 gun. I finally changed my 930 from a 5 shot 18" barrel to a 24" barrel with 9+1 capacity. My second 3gun as well as SG match are at the end of the month. So do you prefer the Benelli?
@bullittmcqueen9 жыл бұрын
The 930 is a good entry 3-gun shotgun but the Benelli M2 is the standard all others are compared to. It's my favorite gun I own.
