What is your most reliable trick to running deep in poker tournaments?

Play tight early, let other players make mistakes and get bounced out. Stick to pairs (8’s and better), And big suited connectors. Wait for registration to and then play aggressive. Also, don’t be afraid to rebuy once or twice. Don’t just rely on your one buy-in.

Patience, observation, no fear help me get deep. I stay slippery and trust my instincts. If my lizard brain say me pop them they will fold I do it, if I have the second nuts but alarm bells are going off I fold, ( when I was younger they made crying calls, then when I learned to trust my self, my win rate skyrocketed)

@@Pyrok007 I do fine on AJo, but AT was my biggest leak when I got some poker tracking software. Now I play it more cautiously.

I look at the table and see how everyone plays at first and play tight. Then I get aggressive. I would rather get bounced early than barely hang on all night. Of course lots or other factors but this strategy has helped me win a few locals.

Find the over aggressive player. Wait for a great hand. Slow play, let them dig their own hole. Double up.

8:30 They never fold a J, really? so you always stack people when you have a 3 or pocket 4s? I would say jamming that river will almost always fold a J out, because plenty of times I have been in that situation and it isn't easy to get stacks in. Dry board looks safe in terms of flusghes and straights, and therefore certainly looks like a set or trips...maybe overpair.

I got called yesterday on a similar board, J 24 something 2. Took the same line and shoved river for potsize. They didn't fold AJ. I don't think they fold more than they call in this spot.

Poker for fun is great. Poker as a profession is soul-destroying and a waste.
