As a child in a small town, I’d ride in my grandfather’s red truck as he waved at every passerby and smiled. I just assumed he was friends with everyone. Most people he knew, but even those he didn’t were met with a warm greeting. At night, he ran a garage by the river, tinkering with cars and socializing with kindred souls who popped by. The garage was a sanctuary for stray cats and I’d often come feed them, in between moments spent skipping stones across the river and hopping over puddles formed in the many potholes on Reed St. His spirit, and a longing for the kindness and community I felt in my formative years, led me to create “The Lake Chalet” series. I've been doing premieres for many years now-- one of the main reasons is if I don't, I will get dozens of emails and comments with concern that there won't be a Sunday release that week since I've always released on Sunday and they want to know what's coming.
