“Thank you Dr. David. I have been diagnosed with bone-on-bone osteoarthritis but due to CoViD, invasive procedures such as my scheduled knee replacement was canceled. However, I'm thankful when you said that alternatives are available like knee exercises. If not much to ask, could you show us proper strengthening exercises for my knees so that I can improve with my mobility, for as now I only depend with the help of my rollator. Looking forward to your kind reply. Thank you.”

Watching your videos with the appropriate exercises but really worried about damaging my knees further. I'm 67 and regular with 10mins bicycle at home and pilates 3 times a week and a bit of walking. We've also had many people commenting on our videos saying they felt relief from their knee arthritis by using our exercises and following our advice.

My wife has had seven operations on her left knee for replacement. She was prescribed medication to fight the infection/rejections. The medication affected her kidneys, to the point she was put on dialysis. Before the last operation, I refused to doctor that prescribed the bad medication to be used again. So far things are working out. That doctor is in Oklahoma City and claimed that he sees 50 patients each day. Thankfully another discovered the problem and took my wife off the medication. For future reference: 1. Low resistance high repetition (like cycling) but use glute muscles not quads 2. Strengthen your glutes, and get constant control of them 3. Stretching with muscle activation 33:00. Use your muscles to your advantage to get full range of motion if you have knee stiffness

I have been told I need a knee replacement from arthritis. Recently my knee was swollen and I had trouble bending it. I have had an ACL repair on my other knee so I’ve done many PT sessions. Yes they focus on quads and hamstrings. So I went back to my exercises. This was making it worse. I did one session of your glute exercises and my pain is gone and I can bend my knee more. It totally helped me!! Thank you so much in just one session

You are fantastic! I woke up to the glutes 2 yrs ago when my ANKLE seized up. If I'd known about your channel, the journey would have been very much faster. I had to find out that I couldn't get the glutes properly fired until I fixed the pelvic floor (I hurt my back at age 32), and then they all follow. I'm still on the journey. - I'm 75. I can now even jog gently At 65 I thought I was on the way to being an invalid. Finding those glutes has been a lifesaver and I've still a LOT of work to do!! You're going to help me. I'll subscribe. I also have a meniscus tear from a fall and it has taken me 3 years to find the right physiotherapist n chiripractist. Didn't know they have such diverse approaches. One kept printing out exercise routines, not understanding how to push on despite the pain, as advised 'no pain,no gain'... I had to stop as they didnt improve the inflammations. I went to different ones but didnt improve until I saw Dr David's videos. His advices are to strengthen the glutes and always exercise enough before it hurts. Something I had to experiment and adjust as inflammation easily hinders progress. Dr David rightly suggested, 'low resistance,high frequency' rather than 'no pain,no gain'. Thanks to Dr David I gain much more strength now to walk without the walker. Another physical therapist's videos that I check out is Will Harlow, HT Physio over-50s Specialist. I am so blessed to have Dr David's and Will's professional expertise otherwise, according to my doctors, surgeries are often thwarted as the better option. I'm writing from Australia.

Swimming is by far best exercise for arthritic knee. Lap swimming. Soooo boring but knee strength way Betta. I rode 25 miles on electric bike more fun than swimming.

I'm really into home workouts and now working on my butt muscles to reduce using my thigh muscles. Hi Dr. David, I live in Northern CA. I'm 83 years old & have OA on both bone on bone knees. I use a walker at night & in the mornings because of stiffness. I walk with a cane during the day. I've been doing chair yoga stretch exercises but need to start doing your easy, effective ones again. I've had so many injections in my knees over the years, including stem cell, cortizone, etc.. etc.--nothing worked for me! Going for knee surgery will not work for me either for various reasons. Just discovered you. You have a life long fan if you stay logical like this! I am still unhappy with the "physical therapy" I got last year for not being able to walk more than a few steps without bad pain. I have psoriatic arthritis BUT like many people, I have more than 1 kind of arthritis. I was a competitive skater and still have very, very strong quads and old injuries. Has anyONE EVER paid any attention to that? No. Everyone goes straight for PsA as the sole diagnosis and strengthening quads as the sole non-med treatment (but straight to drugs first). I already feel some relief, albeit temporary at this stage, just doing the few glute stretches you are showing. I will have to look for hand and shoulder exercises, plus more on this rest idea. You probably already know from the skating history that my philosophy is "Oh. You fell? Ok. Get up and do it again." I'm doing everything seated right now. Ready to buy a motorhome and come stay there while you run me through everything.

Hey Lindaray, Thanks for sharing your story. Being a competitive skater must have been so much fun. yes I can see how you have been over working your quads. When that happens your body wants to turn them on all the time. So the idea is getting those to relax and increase the dependence your gluts for activities will be most beneficial for you!! I was supposed to get a knee replacement 4 years ago but it was cancelled as lockdown happened.I did all the physio exercises regularly --- now at 78 I have no pain, I dance Salsa , swim, do Zumba, and Tai Chi every week--- and the surgeon told me I was great and dont need the operation now. OK--- I can't run or jump and have to go down stairs one at a time ---but can do eveŕythimg else. I changed my physio exercises to using my glutes (instead of my thigh muscles as I had been taught,) when I saw your video and want to tell others with severe osteoarthritis to persevere with the physio as it really works.

But if the PT guy knows only how to make you to use the quads,why should u continue to see him?
@junemckenzie5782
@junemckenzie5782 11 күн бұрын
@teodormacovei4648 I don't continue to see the physio at all and the surgeon was really pleased with me. .I was taught the exercises in a physio class before covid burst on the scene., kept on doing them through lockdown, gradua.lly strengthened my muscles,, however when I discovered on these videos that it was better to strengthen the glutes instead of the quads I started concentrating on doing the glute exercises .
@junemckenzie5782
@junemckenzie5782 11 күн бұрын
PS. The physio exercises are fine mostly---- so I dont mean you should stop doing them--- but it's better to substitute the glute squeezes ---- like the El PASO doctor says ----for the thigh muscle squeezes the physios usually tell you to do..as then you aren't putting too much strain on your knees.

I am here in Texas, but a few miles away...close to Houston. I fell at work and injured BOTH knees in 1999, , had arthoscopy on both not long after injury, cleaning up menisus, and removing bone fragments. The past few years they have gotten worse. I went to a new doctor recently, as previous one retired. First thing out of his mouth was you need knee replacements. I have been around others who did not have success with knee replacements. The new doctor said my ACL's are non-existent now, so worried about stability with knee replacements. I did see they have changed this surgery recently. They only put caps on the ends of the knee bones now, instead of totally cutting out the whole joint. Not sure this would be and better with no ACL's. Now I understand why I have had noticeable stability problems, with only a few tumbles. I have not gone to a cane or a walker because I know they tend to weaken your muscles. My Mother had a horrible experience and bad replacement issues, so it has put bad and negative thoughts about knee replacements in my mind. I have fought this discussion for 25 years, but not sure I can prevent it anylonger. Came home after my visit and started searching for other alternatives and found your KZbinS. Hoping you are my answer and resolve.

Hi... Brit Expat in Colombia, I have been treated for ever worsening osteoarthritis since 2016, every Specialist gives conflicting advice, at 65yrs, I was fed up with it, having had at least seven nerve blocks in the knee. Then I was sent for a course of hydrotherapy, and wow! it has certainly helped with the pain. I am back to walking 4km with my dogs in the morning. Hopefully I can signed up for another course, in the mean time, you are stuck with me.

I have Stage 3 arthritis in one knee, and what makes it hurt the most is WALKING. After years of running my knee (which sustained an injury years ago) just can't handle exercise walking anymore. But since I still need cardio, I had to come up with an alternative and for me it is the Stairmaster. It might not seem like it, but that is an exercise I can do pain free. 45 minutes on the Stairmaster = no problem at all. 45 minutes walking for exercise = lying awake in pain all night. But even though I can walk UP steps all day long, walking DOWN is very painful, and I usually turn around and walk backwards down the stairs. (PS...I had a cortisone shot in the bad knee and it didn't help one bit. Not one single iota of pain relief at all.)

I'm from SE Arizona, not watching this in real time. My knees are so painful to walk ok. I sleep in a recliner which helps a lot. My x rays show not really bone on bone, the cartilage is getting worn down because of the stress I put on it (another story). But they both creak and grate on each other. I watched just one other video from you, and I'm going to try and walk outside just a short distance tomorrow for a start. We'll see what happens after that. I have to loosen up a bit in the house before I do anything at all. I'm going to keep follow you and see what happens...

On the subject of orthotics, I can’t imagine walking without my knee sleeves, for me it definitely helps, I think my knees would be much worse without them. What I’m surprised that you didn’t mention, was how important it is to wear the proper footwear (especially flip flops- I think for preventing injuries), that’s how I got my heel spurs, from wearing my shoes long after the soles wore out! You’re amazing 🤩, though, I just subscribed to you.

Hi Sr Mary, I have bone on bone on my knees and shoulder. My doctor keeps pushing me to get knee replacement but I keep refusing to. Most time I manage to keep my pain away. How? Every morning before I eat, I squeeze 1-2 slices of lemon into a cup of warm water and drink it. Wait for about 20 minutes before eating. If you do this daily you’ll have no pain. Also avoid eating night shade vegetables, dairy, and carbs and follow El Paso PT’s exercises.

Dr. David, you are genius, a great instructor and my saver. Everything you said, the suggestions, and the exercises really came from your heart, the years of skill and experiences. They are making sense and really work. It has been 3 months that I pulled the door close and accidentally hit my Rt toes. Due to the sever pain on my toes up to my top ankle, I quickly pull my Rt. leg and slammed my foot down to the floor too fast and realized that it was not the right time and the right angle, from that day my knee was so swollen burning and painful when walking. I have been searching for the suggestions and solutions through in the internet: I did rest, use cold compression, NSIAD votaren gel, and exercise. The swollen, burning and pain is slowly a little bit less but still flared after a short walking. I felt that it is too long now and my problem might just be the improper alignment of my knee joint that I still could not overcome. After been watching so many info in the internet, THIS CLIP OF YOUR IS THE BEST ON TOP OF ALL. I already followed your channel. Thank you so much sir. and May God bless you for what you are doing!!!

Dr. David, You rare doing a great job. I appreciate your dedication and sincerity for patients like me. So far watching your video I am convinced that at this age I should avoid the surgery and keep strengthening my Glutes. So I am seeking your advice. Here is my current condition. Age: 70 yrs., 5’-5” tall, Weight: 138 lbs. Exercise: On average 3 days per week least 30 min., per day. as directed by the N euro-Therapist. Ostia Arthritis since 2016: Taking 1.5mg Meloxicam on need basis. (2023 left knee MRI, no meniscus tear or bursa but the Petillar cartriledge is almost worn out.) Cortisone injection, Uflexa gel injections had no impact on the pain or arrested movement on the joint. Glucosamine tablets did not help. Orthopedic surgeon has given his final say; go for Knee replacement. But am very hesitant to take such a course now So I am waiting to see a Pain specialist.
