The problem is...this depends on having an accurate stock miter gauge. Most folks watching this don’t (Inc me) and therefore will not get great results from this sled.

Using the gauge is only 1 way of getting the angles. You can come up with other ways to get those angles correctly every time. A runner slide with a triangular block attached set at 45 degrees either way to the blade which the mini sled attaches to and references is one possibility. Just because he does it in a certain way does not mean you have to do it the exact same way. He has given you the idea, now go and improve on it that suits you better.
