sorry I posted this recipie above but I thought either @ContemplativeSelah or @armourcasse might like it Given witch hazel is usually distilled and suspended in alcohol I opted to use a percentage of witch hazel to rose water so for a 100ml empty fix plus bottle ends up with a ratio of 15ml witch hazel 60ml rose water 10ml aloe vera 10ml vegetable glycerin with a few drops of bio oil, (it's pretty much overprices vitamin e oil but I was given it so hey) and a few squirts of the Ordinary's caffeine solution ( as the fix plus has caffeine as an ingredient) The oils I used aren't hydrogenated as they are in the actual fix plus so it does separate and will need to be shaken before application, an I can by no means say that this is a direct copy to the fix plus, but it works in a pinch

Unless you have dry skin, I would decrease the amount of glycerine as it can leave the skin sticky and heavy

Thayer's does make an alcohol-free witch hazel; I like the one with rose water in it. They also do a lavender alcohol-free one. I use it as a toner, but this seems like another great use for it!

I think people need to be careful; since many people break out and get very dry skin (very important during the winter) from witch hazel, and most glycerin doesn't list specifically what plant it comes from (sunflower or soybean usually, which are both very allergenic).

Dude!! I Tottes Knew that bottle! I just came across some old VS 'love spell' body mist in a box. Anyhoo, love your makeup setting spray recipe. You might be able to use something like distilled/ or rose water instead, you're skin shouldn't react to it (in theory) and they are both commonly used instead of witch-hazel in DIY setting sprays, I often add a little vitamin e oil and caffeine serum to mine as I know the max fix plus has those in it.

It doesn't but, I think people are trying to find an alternative to vegetable glycerin, that being said most setting sprays do have a small about of oil (usually hydrogenated) a small amount of oil ( like a vitamin e oil ) can help keep the skin moisturized.

Some people have suggested coconut oil, but that leads you into more glowing sprays rather than setting spray, vegetable glycerin is usually the best option.

skip it and replace it with a distilled water or rose water, it will be less drying on the skin and it may be easier for you to find.

Shalini Gupta You can get it at any high end cosmetic shop. Ask for witch Hazel astringent. Or just buy it online. Lol Don't recommend this recipe though. Like someone said it is more of a toner than makeup setting spray
