Adding glycerin would've made this even better. And omit the lavender oil which is fragrant and a skin irritant. Never use fragrances in skincare!

Just so everyone knows because I've seen a lot of comments as to why they use aloe Vera, if you read the ingredients, glycerin is one of them. They probably used it instead of pure glycerin because most people have aloe Vera rather than glycerin. If you have it then you can use that instead it's not that big of a deal

Ingredients of aloe vera gel are: "Aqua, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Glycerin, Carbomer, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Citric Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, Tetrasodium EDTA, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate." You could try a mixture of aloe vera juice and glycerin. Maybe a few drops of lemon juice and vodka, too. *Glycerin* should be about 1/10 of the total capacity. The rest is not as important as this. /Edit: Forget the "maybe lemon juice". Lavender oil is already acidic so you won't need any lemon juice. Vodka/alcohol might help to preserve your mixture though.

I've used aloe vera gel on for scarring and sunbursn before. It creates a bit if a protective layer on the skin, so I'm guessing that's why. Not sure how it does that, but hope this helped!

aleo vera is a natural ingredient n its gel gets absorbed very quickly into the skin.. glycerin takes time to get absorbed.. thus aleo vera absorbs sooner n it sets ur makeup quickly..

no hun. cause lotion has other ingredients in it& will add unnecessary stuff AND can make u oilier, and so defeats the purpose. aloe vera is pretty cheap. can b found in Walmart, 99 cent store and dollar tree.

NO don't use Peppermint, it will burn the skin! Any citrus essential oils or mint will. Just make it without an essential oil, that's what I'm doing. :)

Also the only essential oils I would use on my face(diluted) would be Lavender, Sandalwood, Rose, and Frankincense. Heavily diluted other oils are OK for the body.

Someone asked about the oily skin.... Add the glycerin or aloe and tea tree oil. Also I'm unsure of this recipe of aloe and vit e and lavender oil.
