3 Ingredient DIY Stain Remover | Dawn + Hydrogen Peroxide + Baking Soda = Magic in a Bottle!

This really works. I put a drop of dawn (orange dawn is what I had on hand) on stain, didn’t rub in, put some baking soda on that. Rubbed (right on shirt) to make paste and then a drop of hydrogen peroxide. 5 minutes later, threw in washer and stain came out. I didn’t do both sides and I didn’t rub stain together. Sometimes what doesn’t come out if you put in sunlight that can get rid of stain as well.

Great idea thanks my favorite Elvis shirt got stained and this works. But peroxide has to be left in a dark container or it will lose its potency..

I believe Hydrogen peroxide decomposes slowly into water and elemental oxygen when exposed to light. You should also keep it in its original brown bottle before adding it to your mix.

Dawn on its own can remove the stain. I can also cause the clothing to fade. Tap into a stain with an old toothbrush. I'd only add other ingredients as needed. Fels Naptha bar on a wet garment would also do it. Hydrogen peroxide is not safe for all colors/materials, only those colorfast and test first. On white is good.

Thanks for the info. I use some combination of this with great success. Your method of making a paste is helpful when you need the remover to "stick." Suggestion for your videos - the music is a bit much; I kept having to turn the volume down when the music was on and then turn it up to hear you. Perhaps just tone it down.

I was told not to put dish soap in the wash because it will create a lot of suds. Did you rinse before putting it in the wash, or did it not cause a problem?

That's a great question, I did not rinse prior to putting in the wash and did not have any issues with suds during the cycle. I'd say if you're using a substantial amount it may be helpful to wash, but a small amount on a stain shouldn't warrant it.

Hello from India❤ We do not get Dawn dish soap here. I have tried using 100ml part Hydrogen Peroxide , 100 ml Water and 1 tablspoon of a lemon scented dish soap. I have sprayed this onto dirty white socks, let sit for more than an hour then rinsed it with cold water. It has NOT helped. Can you advise what I may doing wrong?

one part would mean>> part = whatever you are using....ie tablespoon, bottle cap, cup...that would be one part..and if you use one, the other ingredient would follow. One part (tbsp, cap, cup) of dawn/2 parts(tbsp, cap, cup) of peroxide and it looked like she just used the Baking soda as an abrasive to clean the area, so that was not really measured, but looked like equal to the Dawn. Hope this is clearer?
