So many who are less qualified, get a job through connections or backdoor, thats why I dont ever take rejection personally.

I don't take it personally either. But it doesn't help my frustration 😤 level. I'm trying to break into a new industry now , with strong transarable skill. 5 rejections last 3 months. Soul destroying sometimes.

This video has great timing because I got rejected from a publishing apprenticeship after doing the job trial last week and it definitely felt so so personal; I was devastated. I feel like it's been very hard as a graduate to get my foot in the door with the current job market right now, let alone get any experience or internships. Thank you for sharing your experience, it really helps. Hopefully things pick up soon for us publishing hopefuls! 💙

Really interesting, thanks for sharing your experience! :) That's so true that we don't know the bigger picture when applying for jobs, and it's very easy to take it personally even if it isn't most of the time.

Thank you Flavia! It's difficult not to take it personally, but I honestly believe that if we don't get a job it simply means it was not the right opportunity for us and there's something better just around the corner! 😊

My first ever interview was a week after I finished uni at my dream company Walker Books for a Design Assistant. As an aspiring children's illustrator, I could not have imagined a better place for me. I didn't get through the first phase and was devasted, but looking back I probably wasn't ready for it.
