@@mladyyoureapeasant6958 I'm going to actually answer this one... It doesn't matter... Literally, no one gives a shit about your GPA in High school... No one. No job that requires a high school degree only cares. The only reason you should ever worry about the High School GPA Is for application to College. And if your GPA is bas in high school, act the ACT and your fine.

@@mladyyoureapeasant6958 No one (for a job or otherwise) has ever asked me what my grades were win high school after I graduated high school. It matters for getting into post-secondary school. Try to get good grades for two reasons: 1. Because you will learn more and benefit from the knowledge you gain. 2. Because you may want to attend post-secondary school in a few years even if you do not want to now.

Honestly! The question you asked in the video zapped me out of my mind set and I was questioning why am I ruminating over the rejection? I think it also sort of made me realised it’s important to stay detached from the result and keep working on.

This discussion was helpful. I have been through many interviews and was not "the one." I take from this video that asking for feedback after the fact is a futile strategy. Am I right?

Freshly rejected today, I was more experienced compared to the other candidate, but at the end of the day, it all comes down to money. I'm glad I did not compromise on my value, it's very much their loss as they will learn one day that experience comes with a price.

I got rejected by a company who took me through several rounds and then an onsite. They were ghosting me, I asked for a follow up and then the recruiter gave me a rejection. They cited a technical certification that I didn't have. Well, I ended up pursuing that certification and getting it. I got a better job with another company.

I can answer the question because many companies have a crappy work environments, pay and benefits and this one didn't. This one checked all the boxes for me. I apply to hundreds of jobs but rarely get excited about any of them. The one I really wanted was the one I was rejected by. I've also landed jobs, most that I was not excited and it's a miserable existence hence why I back to searching again. So in short I didn't land the one I actually wanted

I m in the same situation no job ,no money .I had 3 rejection from other companies but I know what I did wrong there in the interview and k wasn’t happy with them either so I didn’t had this pain but recently I had interview for a job that I m waiting to have the experience from years and finally that opportunity came …I had all the interviews I been not good I been very good a little nervous on my first interview but I handle it . The interviews been for 3 weeks I had my last one on Monday begging of this week Friday they called me to tell me how good I was 🤔and all feedbacks mostly positive only that I had one thing that all Other candidates did and I didn’t mentioned team work !!!!! Where for this job that I applied it’s obvious that it’s about team work no need to mention it we all know ,and that was on second and 3rd interview why you called me for the last one that has nothing to do with the team work … i was 💯 sure that I m gonna take this job 😢 I cried a lot I feel That I m a failure I m disappointed and I m trying to keep Myself strong …

Rejection is painful, and there is no way around that. Life contains suffering, and there is no way around that. The only solution is resilience and persistence. And bear in mind those rejected are all in good company. At first the Beatles were rejected, the Harry Potter book was rejected … huge majority of extremely successful people have had to face rejection and business failure and so on. Just have to press on. And whilst rejection is painful and one has to always think about self-improvement, I suggest try not to take it too personally. Everyone faces rejection. Everyone. Even someone high up in the company you are applying to maybe were rejected in relation to some other job elsewhere they wanted or didn’t get some promotion within the company. Nobody escapes this. You have to mentally deal with it. Remember, the reality is, even the person doing the rejecting, the entire interviewing panel, would themselves have faced rejection in the past. Move on, press on … eventually it will work out. Good luck people!

Natalie, thank you so much for this perspective and for making this video. I went through a nerve-wrecking week repeating the scenarios in my head while waiting for an update as they mentioned they would, and I even waited for another week to follow up via email, (another addition to my already long list of things to be anxious about lol). Now after watching your video, I have come to terms that a no answer/no reply is an answer in itself and I made peace with the fact that I was not chosen. The fact alone that I got that far is a victory in itself, and now I feel very much lighter. So thank you. Thank you so much. I wish you the best and all my fellow job hunters out there, let's keep goin! We only fail when we stop. I pray all of us gets the job we love and deserve. Thank you. Alhamdulillah. Alhamdulillah.

Got rejected today. I can't understand. I've been working as a clerk for the last 4 1/2 years. I answer every questions. I know the job of the administrative technician because I've been a support to her during those years. She retired and now the job was open. I went to the interview and today I learned that it didn't work. They told me that I had a good interview but they wanted new blood. But they proceeded to tell me I didn't have enough experience....I've been in the organization for almost 5 years... But they had the guts to tell me that I would have to help the new technician. They also told me that they thought I was too fragile. Too much stress. They know I have anxiety disorder but it's under control. Never had a panic attack at my job. It's the biggest slap in the face I ever received. Now I have to face them every day and do like everything is ok. I'm so frustrated right now. I feel like a clown. I feel used. I don't understand.

Great video! I applied for a position at an organization that I previously worked for, and I thought I was a perfect match. I met all the qualifications. However, I was getting job offers from other places while they told me they were still interviewing in the first of two rounds, after my interview took place a month prior. I told them my excitement and interest, and that I needed to know their hiring decision by the deadline I was expected to respond to a job offer. They basically told me they wouldn’t want me to miss out on an opportunity while the review “all viable applicants.” At this point, I felt that they did not want me, so I acknowledged that they have major changes since top leaders were leaving their organization, and I wished them well in finding their new team. At this point I withdrew my application to focus on places that valued me and respected my time.

8:40 and on is the most passive aggressive bs ever. Most candidates who go through 3 steps in the interview deserve at least a no from HR or any other person from the company as the candidate expressed so much time and energy through their interest in the role.

Thank you so much for this video, Natalie. You made my day. It has been a week since I finished an internship that was supposed to end with a full-time offer. I thought I did everything perfectly well and received a lot of compliments from senior managers, but on the day of the offer, I was told they couldn't offer me a full-time position. I have never been so crushed by rejection in my life. It messed me up mentally and emotionally. I left my established job for the new opportunity and gave it my all because I found purpose in what I was doing. For once, I felt like I belonged and had found a company where I could grow personally and professionally; I guess I was wrong and delusional. Thank you for this fantastic video. I am ready to take the offer I have on the table now and move on.

Hi Natalie. I can’t thank you enough for this video. The company that I used to work for came back for me and it felt like the opportunity that I always wanted was finally falling into place. Met the CEO and CCO and shook hands on the position. Over the next few weeks the communication became very scarce and I couldn’t get a straight answer back from them. A new hiring manager came on board in the meantime and she just called me this morning and told me that she doesn’t think I’m the right person for the role so they won’t be hiring me. I have been completely crushed all day but this process has eroded my trust in them and if this is the way they treat people then I don’t want to work for them. Thank you for showing me that they don’t deserve me and to keep my head up and stay hopeful for fantastic opportunities to come. I probably dodged a bullet which I am slowly starting to come to terms with.

I’ve been in corporate recruiting for over 20 years. An initial rejection by one manager within a large organization does not mean that every hiring leader within that organization does not want to extend a job offer to you. I’ve seen dozens of job offers be extended to silver medalist candidates (first runner up candidates) and sometimes even the bronze medalist candidate. I do agree that it’s a good idea to explore other organizations that might be a better fit. However, it’s probably not a good idea to immediately dismiss a potential employer based on one or even two decisions to not hire you. There can be several reasons for a company not selecting someone for a job. A couple of reasons include: another candidate interviewed better, meaning their answers may have been more concise and articulated better. Another reason is that they offered a job to a very qualified internal candidate who has been vying for the same position for several years.

I have been working for this company for over 5years and have tossed myself into it and gone above and beyond to be the best and learn as much as possible. In the past year I have started exploring other career opportunities within that company and no matter how many positions I apply for or interviews I have- it just does not work out (and they were all jobs that I was qualified for). This last one though... it hit so much harder than the others because my current boss is retiring and she even recommended me for the position but they ended up giving a second interview to a woman that i trained and mentored... and I already know that she is not computer savvy enough to do the job. So- I was sitting here just so beyond all sense and logic because I came into this company with so much experience and hold such a strong performance record- I just lost all faith in my abilities as a person. Nothing anyone has said to me has touched that darkness that I dived into. I just wanted to let you know that I found your video and it really resonated with me. I think that I have been trying so hard all of these years and I just wanted this last job application to validate my efforts because I know that I deserve more that what they are giving me. Applying for jobs is like fishing... you know the bait you have is fresh and the fish want it... but if you keep casting your line out in the same area and you dont get any bites- it's time to move on to the next spot.

Natalie seems like a VERY nice person and I'm often worried that I'm being a bit to hard on her in comments. But honestly, she seems kind of clueless and sheltered also. Constantly telling everyone that something is only a problem if they make it a problem is disingenuous and kind of insulting.

Hi, I had this interview and it didnt go so well because I was nervous. and they emailed me that they wont go through with my application but the next day the HR personnel called me up if I am still interested and set me up for a second interview because the person who interviewed me want to reconsider my application. I actually dont know what to feel.

very good points. even at the top of my game an opportunity failed.. would drop an email but realisitcally its like a relationship. move on, grow in your own way that didnt involved that particular team and see what is ahead of the road? its not bad just an opportunity that was missed, could have been nice but never bad because the amazing experience you have next year wouldnt have been possible if you "GOT" the gig. Lifes long, take it opportunities if they are presented and imo present yourself more and say less.

By "moving on" to find a company that actually wants you, I can only interpret that as moving on to another country. I have beaten my brains out for over 35 years, trying to start a career in engineering in the United States. Moving on must mean moving on to Russia, Western Europe, Canada, or some country where the hiring decision is not made on an irrational basis. The most common response I have heard is, "We had an overwhelming number of applicants for this job". Sometimes they refer to an overwhelming number of qualified or "highly qualified" applicants. When I have at least managed to get interviews, they say I do not talk enough. Hopefully I will soon have interviews where I talk in a language that few Americans can understand. That is poetic justice.

Why work for a company that doesn't want you? Perhaps it's really just one person in that one company who doesn't want you around though your skillset matches what they need? Or how about the hiring manager be obligated to also bring in others on their team to make sure their bias isn't isolated? Or perhaps you have financial obligations like a family, rent/mortgages, etc. so you take the PTSD-like abuse for a paycheck knowing your family is OK? Or are we at fault for merely existing and needing a job in the first place?

I’m in my final year of university and have been applying for 7 months now. I’ve reached the final rounds with 4 top companies and end up missing out each time due to changes in the company, layoffs, or them hiring only 1 person when they interviewed 10. it’s getting close to my graduation date and I still don’t have a role, I’ll keep trying but it’s becoming depressing :(

I didn't apply to a company who didn't want me. I only found out they didn't want me because I applied. And after applying to dozens of companies and being told no, it is hard to imagine there is a magical company for me out there. It must be nice to have loads of options, but I do not have that luxury so it is not exactly east to skip away from each interview with a smile on my face. And while we are at it, it can be useful to get information on your rejection, maybe you did something wrong, maybe they can offer advice. Maybe you can make a connection. If you do not follow up you do not have that chance. Following up for months is silly, but once or twice shows initiative, I have gotten jobs before because I was the only one chasing it up. Also you are incorrect about HR. They may not like rejecting people, but it is their job, we can't just not do our jobs because we don't enjoy it. The real reason HR do not get back to candidates is because they don't have to, that is all. The only advice you need to give people is that life is not fair, do not expect it to be. All you can do is focus on what is under your control, your application and your behaviour. The rest is up to the employer and they hold all the cards, even some you can't see. So if you think you met all the criteria for the job, there is likely some stuff you aren't allowed to see (and maybe they aren't allowed to show you) that come into play. You DO need to move on. But don't do it with a warm smug smile that you have in some way gained from a rejection, like you and the company just aren't compatible or hat they 'didn't want you' it is in no way personal (most of the time) it is just a business decision. The best thing you can do is take it that you aren't right for them right now and that you should move on to your other opportunities.

If a company isn't not hiring you, it is more about you not being as good of a fit to the position as the other candidate that got the job. The other candidate might have tonnes more experience and broader skillsets. The company isn't nessesarily saying they don't want you, they are saying you weren't better than the other candidate. But if a company is ghosting people, even after reaching out. Then i'd say that no, i wouldn't like to work for that company. They have effectivly told me that they either don't have the ability to manage their hiring process well enough to save face (as in brand company reputation and professionality). Or that they don't care enough to send and email through a mail group that informs the other candidates that they didn't get the job, and thanking them. Which is devaluing and indifference to probably their employees as well.

I was rejected because they want a different personality. I was qualified and passed the tests ansd when i went to the interview i was a bit nervous in the beginning. What a self righteous point of view regarding companies not responding. HR expects candidates to act by the highest social norms but does not apply these standards to themselves. There is no justification for that and there is also not two ways of looking at it - its disrespectful.
