I used to work for the railroad. It's an extremely dangerous job. On my first day of training, I saw a guy walk onto the tracks. It was a terrible sight. I feel bad for the people who lost their lives. Condolences to the families.

Three died when THE Driver disobeyed the signals and drove around the crossing gate.

I can't understand why someone would do something like this. Is where you are going really worth dying for? My prayers go out the families that lost ones!

A freight train = 80+ tonnes A regular car = 2.5 tonnes The moral of the story is that motorists need to yield to these ultimate road warriors. There's a reason why the railroad gates go down to stop the flow of traffic.

I have played at the tennis courts all my life and those trains do not have left lane right lane. They go either direction on the tracks.

I can’t stand being in cars with guys that feel the need to show out and drive excessively fast. It’s scary not a turn on

How can the driver can get the chance to go around the gate? He probably didn't know the train is coming

Driver just being careless and impatiet. Harvey is nothing but a railroad town with trains constantly blocking roads and people are getting tired of waiting.

I was once crossing tracks. There was no warning, no lights, and the gate came down on my car. Luckily, I had nothing on the rack on top of my car. When I passed through, I saw the train. After that, I looked both ways before crossing the tracks.

Umm… Maybe slow down and stop when you see train sticks coming down and lights flashing. In the moment he must have forgotten that a train can literally tear a semi truck into shreds. Trains could carry millions of pounds and they take several minutes to stop depending on their speed. That’s why you rarely see people getting hit by a train because most people are smart enough to open their brains and think before doing. No disrespect to the family at all but it’s just the truth. Trains are far deadlier than semi trucks. Your 4 to 5 thousand pound car vs a train that could weigh up to over 20 million pounds.
