This was a tough spot, it was a long drive out there and there were always people around and the pool was gated, so I had to get the code and then prop the gates open and then try figure out where they were hanging out... we got there in the end though!

@anniekinsmishkamouse75753 жыл бұрын
The standard average is only one kitten in four survives. The Moms are chronically pregnant and do suffer until they eventually die. Often in birth because their uterus is too worn out. Please spay and neuter. Thank you Chris and Jess for all that you do to help. You are heroes to me.
@kalayne67133 жыл бұрын
I will never forget the first feral kitten I picked up.Sixty years later, I still have the scars.But the ferals who found me have had long, loving lives.People who say you can't make a pet out of a feral are ignorant.Patience is the answer.Thanks Chris for caring for cats.
@aautumn7333 жыл бұрын
All cats are born feral and become tame through positive interaction with humans in the birth to 13-14 week period. A stray cat is a cat that has had that socialization. Feral adult cats are another matter. It's really best to TNR or get them into a barn cat program. One of the problems with people is they don't understand "feral" and "stray" are NOT the same thing.
@kalayne67133 жыл бұрын
@@aautumn733 Unfortunately, in Australia, we don't have TNR or barn cat programs.Like most introduced species, cats are not treated well.All the feral cats who adopted me had had no socialization.No human had ever fed, petted or played with them, so I did, over long periods of time.When I could finally catch them, they were neutered and came home with me.I was not a cat hoarder, only those who chose me, stayed.Most stray/ferals are killed in a multitude of horrific ways or die of neglect.Australia is very behind in animal rights, from the way we treat our farm animals to the slaughter of our national animal, the kangaroo, for pet food. I am not proud to be Australian with such cruel behaviour commonplace and sanctioned.
@aautumn7333 жыл бұрын
@@kalayne6713 I know they're behind on animal rights. Unfortunately also behind on teaching about the actual way extinction happens. I've seen many ignorant and hate fueled comments about cats, especially from Australians. Honestly I'm sorry the education system there seems to have such a large gap when it comes to animals and ecological issues. The best thing we can all do is spay and neuter our own pets. Keep them indoors where they belong. Never support buying from breeders or pet shops. Raise adoption and TNR awareness. Offer time to a shelter or TNR group or foster if possible. If we all do our part we can reduce the suffering of animals both on the street and in shelters.

Awesome video! Laughed hard at the cat in the pool! Brilliant lol! I take care of a not-so-feral feral cat (for me only) that I trapped as well and got spayed. For a year, I couldn't make eye contact with her putting food out. She's sitting on my lap now. Great work!!!! Thanks so much for showing people how relatively easy it is to trap, spay and neuter cats. It's the only answer to suffering.

The average life span of a feral cat is 2 years, unless they have a caretaker. In addition, trap/spay/neuter release can cause even more suffering for cats if they are not allowed healing time before being re-released. Incisions can open by licking, and infections can and do happen. Also, feral cats should be tested for FeLV/FIV and if positive, humanely euthanized. Finally, feral cats should be humanely euthanized, unless there is a caregiver.

After a couple months, her fur grew out to this absolutely beautiful espresso chocolate coat. Turns out...she's an extremely rare breed known as a Chantilly/Tiffany. Amazing!!!! She has an immune deficiency which costs expensive meds ($150) It's sometimes difficult to afford but I try. My remaining senior citizen and endangered beauty are my life!!!

I wish mama could have been rehabbed and adopted but TNR is still better than leaving her to keep reproducing. Dude, you are just so cool! We rescued over 100 cats and kittens, 20+ dogs and puppies, a few swans and geese (who were injured and not all that grateful but that was fine) a couple of injured fawns , baby foxes, baby opossums, baby raccoons and a pig. All the wild critters, and the pig, got help through a wildlife guy who helped us. We didn’t rescue near on the level that you do but as hard as it was, it was always so rewarding! You do awesome stuff, man! Keep up all the wonderful work! We’ll keep watching and supporting!
