@cellulanus Жыл бұрын
Illegal builds are ones that place stress on the blocks. In the short term with new pieces there's probably no problem but if pieces are kept together in an illegal build for an extended time as can happen with Lego then there's a risk of breakage. A fully legal build will never break short of faulty plastic.

LEGO would be the world's richest company from the stress failures of pieces with entire art museum exhibits needing rebuilt every few years, and every few months for the dynamic examples :) It would be a beautiful place though, and I think I'd enjoy a place in the underground city-scape gang rings, possibly built from the reassembly of all the broken pieces from regular society :)

The whole concept of "illegal building techniques" is so strange. Who decided that one way of using legos, a toy, is "illegal"? If you're able to build something with it and it works why should it be "illegal"? It just limits the usefulness of legos.
@neutronalchemist32412 ай бұрын
"illegal" simply means it could not be used on an official set. A private can use the bricks the way he wants. An "illegal" technique connects parts that should not be connected, due to dimensional differences (IE using the Lego hand to grab something too big to enter in it), or put abnormal stress on the bricks (IE, bending long thin bricks to make a curve). Partial insertion, like in this case, is not illegal. There is no additional stress on the blocks.
@LouieGrind2 ай бұрын
@@neutronalchemist3241 I know what it means. My point is that it limits the potential of the toy. Just imagine what cool sets you could buy if there weren't "illegal" techniques.
@hesspet Жыл бұрын
I've just come across a question that will probably keep me up all night. Can you calculate the number of elements per circle? In principle, you can measure an element quite accurately. If you think about it further, you could then calculate exactly the circumference and the number of parts necessary to complete a full circle for "Lego" circles that are based on plates, and establish a formula. Problems the world doesn't need -> part n+1.😋
